Just announced with a human faction and taking place in at least some part on high gravity earth. Making tracked vehicles more common.
A human faction is now coming and multiplayer is more coop focussed. The devs are saying it will probably play more like sins of a solar empire. Not a huge fan if that is true as of you're going to copy something copy conquest frontier wars style. Sins is just tower defence and although I enjoy it I would say it's often a case of no matter what you do or what units you choose that the outcome will be the same.

No campaign mentioned though - just skirmish

@Destraex at first I thought you might me confusing Sins with Siege of Centauri. But now that you made the comparison of Sins to tower defense, I can't unsee it. I never thought of it that way before but the comparison seems valid.

Yeah, in Sins or Sins2 the small gravity well scales combined with the linear nature of the phase jump lanes connecting them conspire to create choke points that turn into constant sieges.
There are no real tactics to be had for fleets to change this, no hiding fleets behind moons or attacking an enemy ship from two sides or the rear. The whole game is about fleet composition and fleet skills snd even the research tree is linear. The sins2 devs say that you can use the new tracking turrets to flank for little reply, but that would probably require the volatile fuel module on all ships, which will damage your ship if I recall correctly. There are very limited fleet formation options to boot, so making your fleet ship types work efficiently together is a major chore.

Now to switch back to Ashes2, it's ironic that I already hate the new human faction for having infantry that are scaled to the size of buildings. I wonder if the scale adjusts to be more realistic as you zoom in?
