Jonathan Parshall (Shattered Sword) has a new book that sounds fascinating.  He shows incredible detail, in how WWII was a global conflict. Most books show each theater with total focus. He demonstrates how the choices about one area affected others.

He discusses the war and the book with Drachinifel.  There is a very discerning discussion about admiral King, Cunningham, and Nimitz at about the 50 minute mark.  If you're onto the war's naval aspect, it's well worth about 20 minutes.
