....and put it under the sofa to stop the cat getting at it (it's a mental wee kitten - the most dangerous sort!)

will there be a cat-safe  ;) VASSAL-module released too?

There is a cat safe VASSAL module of Blood and Bridges here:
http://lnlpublishing.com/community-menu/lnl-on-vassal
Whilst I don't mind Vassal (and I think I have the module for Blood and Bridges) - for me the whole point - the whole feeling - of a boardgame is handling the counters and the map and the cards and rolling the dice. It really is (to borrow a Matrix/Slitherine phrase) all about the physical product for me. To play it on Vassal removes that special feeling.

Vassal is obviously excellent for playing against opponents - but then I don't buy solitaire boardgames to play with other people  ;D
Absolutely agree with you regarding the physical aspect of board games, and I'm also suffering from inquisitive kitten syndrome at the moment. She can hear the most carefully rolled dice no matter where in the house she is, and will be there, paws at the ready, before the last dice has stopped rolling.

Problem is, she does not know when to stop rolling 'em, and is not happy until they are off the table and on the floor, at which point, the counters are next. She really likes those nice big CoH counters.

I have concluded that the best method of ensuring a cat does not disturb your boardgaming is to either:

A) Do not boardgame

or

B) Do not have a cat

JD: if playing your physical copy of the game, never use tape, glue or stickytac to secure the mapsheets down to the table.
Two options.
1) Buy a piece of thin plexiglass from your local hardware store and use that to place over your mapsheet.

2) Buy a poster frame to place the mapsheet in to (ex: http://www.displays2go.com/P-4662/Cheap-Poster-Frames-Hold-24-x-36-Prints?gclid=CNyV6Jri5roCFS8S7AodkXAA1Q)

Remember, your boardgame collection has to last FOREVER.  Do take care of it!

;) ;D

Thx GJK for the great tip. I would never have thought of putting them in poster frames. I was actually (can you believe) thinking I could cover them in that sticky film!! The horror!!

These may be a bit OTT (£27 for both) but it was a local shop and I could get them today  ;D

Those are the nicer looking and sturdier frames and probably well worth the extra $$.  I need to pick up a couple of those myself actually.

Just after I got home from work, the doorbell rang.  My son answered the door and had a quick exchange with the man that had come to pay us a little visit.  Next, the door shut and my son exclaims "somebody got a new game!".  I knew immediately what it was:

An ASL Core Module that was just (re)released.  Actually, it combines two of the original Core Modules in to one box along with a mini-HASL.  I think the pre-order price was $95.00.  It retails for $164.00 now and once it goes out of print - in about a year - ebay will fetch $300+ for it without a doubt.  My goal is to some day play the Pacific in ASL.  I've heard how exciting it is either leading a banzai charge or how nerve racking it is facing one.  If I should never get to play it though, then this along with the rest of my ASL collection is my kids college fund, so there.   8)

"Does a watch list mean you are being watched or is it a come on to Toonces?" - Biggs

GJK

Nope - nothing in ASL is.  Requires ownership of the rules and probably the "Yanks" too for the Americans.  Some of the scenarios may/probably require maps from other modules too.  Only the Starter Kits are each self-contained.  That would be great if they moved to the PTO with the SK's.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bison

I forgot to add. I expect to see photos tomorrow of all the counters punched, clipped, and organized.

Toonces

Oh man, I can't swing $167 for an expansion to a game that's already well over $100 to buy.  That's just too much for one game.
