I've long appreciated Star Wars.  Well let me clarify I love Star Wars and Empire Strikes Back.  Ewoks, the young Anakin Skywalker and jar jar binks annoy me to the point I want to mute parts of the newer movies.  Anywhoo this thread is dedicated to the power of Star Wars.  Watch and learn patawans.

When the original Star Wars hit theaters, it was a sensation. There was literally nothing like it. I had just broken up with my high school girlfriend and I watched it 18 times in the theater that summer. Part of that was heartbreak, but the nerd factor cannot be ignored  8)

So you're saying that Star Wars can mend a broken heart?  That's awesome.

I'm a Star Wars geek. My wife is as girly as they come... she's a sales director with Mary Kay.
One day I was showing her how to get photos off her camera and onto her PC.
At the end of the demonstration she said "OK, I'll try that next time." to which I immediately replied "Do or do not. There is no try."
After explaining to her about Yoda and the force she thought the saying was kinda cool... and her husband was more of a geek than she realised.

Months later I'm sitting at my PC playing games while my wife is have a MK class in teh living room. At one point she's telling the ladies about how to get bookings and says
"Go out and warm chatter women where ever you see them. Sell them on the business. Do or do not. There is no try. These are the wise words of Master Yoda." !!!
I just about fell out of my chair.  8)
She's been using it ever since and says it works.

Star Wars paid for my flight to Poland and back when I went to work there for a year.  I gathered all my toys that my mom has boxed up in the garage for 20 years and brought them down to a nerd store.  I told the owner that I'd give her the lot and she could sell it and we'd split the profits 50/50.  Got just shy of $2000 in a month.  That was just before the re-release or the original trilogy in 97.

when i watched it on tv for the first time, my slightly younger brother stood up in the middle of the movie grumbling: that movie is utterly unrealistic  :o
that crack in our relationship never fully disappeared.

My dad took us to see Star Wars and I was enthralled!  When Empire came out, it was Memorial Day weekend.  The whole family went down to the megaplex and hung out in the parking lot through FOUR showings until we were finally able to get in and see the fifth!  I was floored.  Luckily, for them, I was still young enough not to be bothered by the Ewoks.  They annoy the piss out of me now.
