Hi gents,

We just released Scourge of War: Chancellorsville over at Matrix Games and Slitherine for all you ACW real-time wargame fans. It is a stand-alone so you don't need to have Gettysburg to play it, but the expansions Pipe Creek and Antietam aren't set to work with Chancellorsville yet, so you'll still need Gettysburg for those.

Anyone play SoW online? I've heard of the ginormous matches being quite amazing.

Drats....a blessing and a curse. I'm glad to see Chancellorsville using this engine but why not as an add-on like Antietam rather than a stand-alone?  Complaint aside....this is an outstanding game system!

Thanks for the heads up, Scott, I wasn't aware that Chancellorsville was this close to release!

Yeah, took me by surprise too!

I still need to get Antietam.  :)

So besides new maps and scenarios, are there any other new improvements to the engine and such?

I saw the tweet. Already assigned a reviewer.

This is just down the road from me. I need to play this and then visit the battlefield :)

The engine improvements have come in updates in the past, to keep it multiplayer compatible.

So this new standalone.. is it not multiplayer compatible with the previous SOW games?

I am kind of wondering why this was not just sold as an add on versus full game like the other two expansions...especially if only contains new maps and scenarios.

A fresh start at Matrix = a new standalone?   :o

Guys, it IS AN EXPANSION if you already own Gettysburg. You get to it by clicking on "additional battles" where you would find the Antietam scenario. If you don't own Gettysburg, then you can download it and play it as a STAND ALONE.

Sorry for late reply gents, Chipotle called and demanded I eat their food or else someone else would!

The other difference is that Chancellorsville can also get the color manual with the physical orders, for those that like to imbibe on that wonderful sensation :)

I hope I'm not alone in also smelling fresh manuals.

It is interesting pricing for the different expansions...pipe creek ($9 for six scenarios), Antietam ($19 for 26 scenarios), and Chancellorsville ($29 for 20 or so scenarios).  Just curious what made the new game $10 more than Antietam.   In the end doesn't matter since I will likely buy anyways, just seemed strange to me:)

Scott, feel free to post a link with the release info. I don't think anyone will mind ;)
