Remember when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?!?

You see....that's the crazy thing about this...in 1941 he was flying P-40's looking for the Japanese......20 years later in college he thinks the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor.... ???

Assuming they knew where (or even what) Pearl Harbor was. And that didn't suddenly happen this semester. I've mentioned before that I have a friend who found himself mentioning WW2 at work when one of his female coworkers looked puzzled for a moment and then said "Oh! I know! That's the one when all the sailors were dancing with the nurses, right?" The woman in question was (and probably still is) a law clerk.

I realize our society is supposed to be broken into highly specialized jobs, but that just seems wrong.

Funny think is, when that movie came out the average high schooler would get that joke.

These days? I wonder.

A few years ago, in a column about the Astros late-season charge for the playoffs, a columnist made a reference to "Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?" and the article comments went ballistic over the 'inaccuracy' of the article.  It seems that everyone was in a hurry to correct the writer, but no one got the "Animal House" reference...

and while China is dicking around with their first carrier landings the US Navy has begun testing of X-47s on our carriers.

with folding wings the Navy might be able to stuff a 1/3 more airframes into a carrier.
dedicate those to outer air defence and our ships become even more difficult to hit.
