I'm watching the Newcastle - Norwich soccer game today, and they're talking about one of the strikers hanging around the goal looking for a loose ball or ricochet to put away.  One of the commentators said "That's the job of a striker, isn't it, to loiter with intent."

I thought that phrase belongs in an aviation mission briefing:  "When you get over the target area, circle clockwise until the FAC calls you in, and loiter with intent."

So please, next time you're briefing a mission somewhere, please, please, get that phrase into the briefing for your aviation brethren...  "loiter with intent."

Either that, or LB might get charged with it by the cops after being picked up outside the Aquaman fan club meeting.  "Your honor, he was loitering with intent."

Since we are throwing things at Toonces...."Hi toonces.  You have seen me around.  I did weather briefings for many years.
I would like to compare notes one day.'

@ Brant, as Longdan mentioned, I brief weather and oceanography to warfighters now.  However, I'm going to borrow your phrase and stick it into a brief as soon as I can.  Like, last week I was briefing that cyclone off of Australia to my Admiral.  Next brief I'll say something like, "And sir, down in the IO we have this tropical that is going to head southeast over the next 2 days and then loiter with intent..."

I'll let you know how it goes.

How about this:

"Good morning Admiral.  For the weather this week, locally, this high pressure north of Hawaii is going to strengthen over the next few days and then loiter with intent for the through the weekend..."

Yeah, I like that.  I'm going to use that.   8)

Ha! I love it! :)

loiter with intent should be an A-10 squadon motto.
Jarhead - Yeah. You're probably right.

Gus - I use sweatpants with flannel shorts to soak up my crotch sweat.

Banzai Cat - There is no "partial credit" in grammar. Like anal sex. It's either in, or it's not.

Mirth - We learned long ago that they key isn't to outrun Star, it's to outrun Gus.

Martok - I don't know if it's possible to have an "anti-boner"...but I now have one.

Gus - Celery is vile and has no reason to exist. Like underwear on Star.

I know, right?  It's totally a close-air support thing...  As soon as I heard them say that on TV, all I could think of was some forward air controller using that line in a brigade staff briefing.

sooooo...  with all the other stuff you've had going on, did you ever get a chance to work "loiter with intent" into a briefing?
