Nice flying sequence for the Millennium Falcon.... but WTF is this thing?  :o

A flaming light sabre?!? Are the 2 extra bit cigarette lighters?  ???  ::)

It's Sith Seth Rogen, Darth Jibberish, and his lit cross joint.

Any time is a good time for pie.

The opening scene when the dude in the Stormtrooper armour pops his head up, well, it made me laugh.

Not good.

No more clone stormtroopers?

All part of the Alliance's executive orders on amnesty.

No more clone stormtroopers?

The Rebels TV series and the new canon novels establish that the Empire phased out the Clones for conscripts.

Clones were a relatively small expensive force, designed to fight and win a war, and to eliminate the Jedi problem.

Stormtroopers are a huge cheap force, meant less to fight an equal enemy and more to suppress and rule over a large population.

So that's why the helmets are different?

So that's why the helmets are different?

I think that's just the gear getting more advanced.

According to Rebels the Stormtrooper Corps looks almost entirely Clone free by about a decade before A New Hope.

They haven't addressed the clones yet in Rebels, but I'd wager any still in service were limited to elite units.

The sound is different and the beam isn't well contained, almost like an early, less refined form of the technology.  The cross guard is impractical, but it screams old, perhaps ancient. Couple that with the worn and disheveled look of it's owner, I'm guessing this may be a Sith Lord that hasn't been around for a long, long while.  Perhaps something asleep that has...awakened?

I hope Jar Jar Abrams ruins Star Wars as much as he did Star Trek. But people will love it no matter what.  :idiot2:

Lense flares aside I liked the new Treks.
Jarhead - Yeah. You're probably right.

Gus - I use sweatpants with flannel shorts to soak up my crotch sweat.

Banzai Cat - There is no "partial credit" in grammar. Like anal sex. It's either in, or it's not.

Mirth - We learned long ago that they key isn't to outrun Star, it's to outrun Gus.

Martok - I don't know if it's possible to have an "anti-boner"...but I now have one.

Gus - Celery is vile and has no reason to exist. Like underwear on Star.

I did too, but they were more Star Wars than Star Trek.  They very seriously lacked what made Star Trek, well, Star Trek.  Roddenberry would've despised them.

Abrams doesn't seem to be messing up here.  He's made decisions to go to practical effects over CGI, and he's brought back Lawrence Kasdan of Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi and Raiders of the Lost Ark to do the writing rather than his typical cronies (Lindeloff, Orci, Cruze). He also doesn't have complete control, and he's only doing the first of the three sequels.

As a straight shooting director, he's competent.  He won't let a particular personal style get in the way, and hopefully he's learned his lesson on the lens flare.

Love ya Star, but what you liked wasn't Trek. It was new though.  ;D

I'll give you he's a lot better suited to Star Wars rather than Star Trek.

That crossguard would make more sense if it were slanted forwards, like a medieval Oakeshott type 7 crossguard but at an even sharper angle.
