This hits a sweet spot. I already have the Pike and Shot Mod for King or Country, which is fun. This sounds epic. :)

I've been wanting to play For King & Country forever. Just not enough time. This does appear to be more epic. Plus I am more interested in German history in general.

It's supposed to be a good one-volume book on the subject.  I have it queued up for when I finish the books I'm already reading.


It is very good indeed.  I was a bit skeptical of the author's main point (that the whole mess was kind of pointless and more about the collapse of the legal system of the HRE and the substitution of Sovereignty for various kinds of legal claims than it was about religion), but once I got through the thing, I had to admit he had a point or two.

I had fallen asleep reading some 1000-page one-volume history of the Thirty-year's war and there came to me as if in that recurring dream
where I'm standing beside General Grant at Little Anna Courthouse or Spottsylvania and there was the ghost of Cardinal Ferdinand (looking absurdly Hapsburgy-y) and he said slowly -- as if he too were dreaming -- "I'm going to whip Bobby Horn if it takes all summer."
Grant turns sadly and steadies the dreaming Cardinal with one hand saying, "Sure you are.  Sure you are."
The Cardinal fades from view and Grant says to me, "You know he's always dreaming that Nordlingen is about to happen and he doesn't have any clothes on and he's late." 
Then I wake up.
