Rome 2 TW Pre-purchase

60.00 is a lot of money. I will do my best to hold out, but it will be similar to trying to hold out on The Wife. Also, Shogun 2 was IMHO the best game in the series. If that is any indication, I will have less of a problem forking over big bucks. The above coupon also helps.

BTW I thought release was going to be in October...I guess that has changed!

I will get this game no doubt about it. However, I can't put that kind of money down for a pre-purchase. Before I buy the game I want it to be out for a little bit so glaring bugs and such can be fixed. I"ve been burned a couple times by TW games on day one and I won't do that again. However, I doubt I will be able to hold out for very long. ;D

I think as we get closer to the release date some sales will start popping up. I'm not saying it'll be $20, but don't be surprised that with discounts, rebates, whatever else if you can get it from greenmangaming for closer to $40.

As to getgamesgo, I've purchase from them a couple of times and never had a problem.

I've ordered from GetGamesGo before and had no issues. Actually, one of the games I purchased had some stability issues and they gave me absolutely no fuss when I requested a refund or store credit (they issued a refund).

GGG seem to have a better distro deal with Creative Assembly because I got my Shogun 2 TW pre-order from them, too, and that was also a good bit cheaper than anywhere else. I suppose because they're both British companies?

I would tread carefully on that one. I think that's one of those sites that sells gray market keys.

It's funny how our perception of money works. You go to see a movie it's at least $12 (for me, anyway) - MAYBE that movie is 3 hours so $60 for R2TW has to give you over 15 hours of enjoyment for it to be more economical than a movie... it will probably take that much time just to feel comfortable with the game let alone sick of it. If you don't see movies then compare it to ordering a cocktail anywhere near a metropolitan area - or playing golf? Heading to the range and firing off a few rounds? Look at those costs (many of which are recurring).

$60 for a game compared to the longevity and amount of enjoyment is STILL the best deal in entertainment/leisure. Hands down.

I going to assume those comments are directed at me (or at least in my general direction) as I mentioned the £45 tag initially.

You're obviously entitled your opinion - as am I.

I was going to go into the whole this that and the other. But why bother - it'll only go round in circles. And I can't even fault your logic.

I tried to really enjoy Empire but it just didn't seem to work for me (I tried the Napoleon DL as well).

The original Rome TW was where it all started for me so I have some interest in this game but not enough to pull the trigger on a pre purchase.

I can't quite put my finger on what it was about Empire that killed my interest, if anything it probably was the AI didn't quite seem to defend well with Napoleonic weapons and tactics. My battles where all the same routine, gorgeous eye candy though!
