Well now, maybe I'll finally be able to discover what all the fuss has been after all these years.  :)

Although, I do hope eventually, we get a grand strategy game in the vein of Distant Worlds set in the WH 40K universe.
Big +1 here.  That would be beyond epic.

Quoteone promise though: there will be much more in the future

Ok, still hope for...consoles :)

Come on, this is the game that would not only work on consoles but would also attract a lot of players, so.... :)

Consoles can go jump off a bridge :)

I have 2 myself, doesn't mean I like them though ;)

Can't wait for this.  Although, I do hope eventually, we get a grand strategy game in the vein of Distant Worlds set in the WH 40K universe.

OMG... that would be the best game in the entire universe.

I'm still excited about this news too, however.

Great Ajax

Sounds to me like WH40k using a Battlefield Academy engine.

Great Ajax anticipated my question:  what's the elevator pitch for this game?  There's an awful lot of excitement because GW (which should never be trusted, even with its own licenses) and Slitherine (which is a pretty cool bunch of folks) have announced some kind of multi-platform, turn-based 40K game.  Tactical level?   Grand Tactical?  Strategic?  And, above all else, what in blazes is it supposed to look like?

I like Slitherine...honest I do...but I don't get making a "big" announcement like this without a single hint (at least that my old fingers can find) of what the game will look like.

Weird...

I'm so old my Blood Angels have beaky-armor...I can't afford too many more failed cracks at this license...

The Battlefield Academy engine would be well suited to this.
All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.

On a slightly related note; Does anyone remember 'Warhammer 40,000 Epic: Final Liberation' by SSI?

If it is like Final Liberation then Battle Academy engine might fit.

They said Hex-based right?  Battle Academy is squares.
I hope it's not Panzer Corps.

Anyway, hope Slitherine beefs up their multiplayer servers.  This will be a break-away title that will get a wider audience they have never seen before (I hope).  Don't want their servers crashing like last time.

TheCommandTent

This sounds interesting and it will be nice to have the PBEM server system to play MP games.

Arctic Blast

I'm intrigued. But I really hope this isn't just Panzer Corps with a 40K coat of paint. I want something brand new, and something that has more of an individual focus than just 'Blood Angels Div. 1'.

Over 35 scenarios;
Over 100 unit types, with unique roles, stats and special abilities;
20 different units stats;
A separate set of maps are designed and balanced specifically for multiplayer via Slitherine's PBEM++ system.

having played the boardgame to death in my youth - i dont remember there been that many unit types - hopefully it will allow for a little more 'personalisation'
