Not new, Apoc's been around (in comics) since the 80s. Age of Apocalypse is one of the big Xmen stories; actually an alternate version of (or maybe directly connected to) Days of Future Past.

Re Damage Control: the MCU version is one of the villains in the new Daredevil show (though it may be replaced someday with the 'real' Damage Control).

I guess the 80's is where I fell off the comics boat. The 60's & 70's is what I know best. And I know that a lot of the comic characters actually had their origins from that time, they changed a lot of their story lines.

Comics are like day time soaps, given enough time, and the stories will be repeated, with slight changes, and or previous stories will be conveniently, eh, reimaged.

He immediately clarifies he like IM2. (For what it's worth, so do I. I only hate the music, which is worse than terrible after the great score from IM1.) But he definitely chose that title to be a negative criticism. "I can't believe I'm saying this, but Agents of SHIELD's more insanely convoluted storylines and need to rely on story over effects have perhaps jaded me to simplistic smashy-smashy tales set in the same universe, though I think it's more than a structural thing."

Also, Joss Whedon says there is no post-credit scene this time (so don't worry about that); and that the movie will release as an extended edition with an alternate ending on Blu (which might possibly address some of the structural and characterization problems LYT was complaining about.)

I'll reserve judgement until I see it, but it sounds like JW has done well to juggle all the demands of a sequel to one of the biggest blockbusters of all time and managed to create a movie that is still well above average for the genre.

I can understand why he wants to step back from directing Infinity Wars. These things are massive undertakings and his instincts are to craft thoughtful, character driven stories.

There is always a post-credit scene.
Also, movie's been out for a while. enough people got to watch it. So why does he think anyone would believe this?

TPek, well, I haven't seen anyone talk about the post-credit scene even vaguely, so maybe Whedon didn't care whether people believed him or not when he said there wasn't one? I'm just reporting what he said in an article from a while back.

Mirth and B_C, my favorite parts were the guy on lag.

Mirth (again): I suppose "isn't half bad" could count as "above average for the genre", come to think of it. ;)
