B_C, the Scott Lang version of Ant Man is (so far as I recall) not important at all. The Pyms are very important to the Avengers, but one is dead and the other is already retired, so.... I dunno. I'm sure I'll like it for what it is, and bonus points if he goes Giant Man at the end.

Stark is basically out at the end. That's the whole final scene with him and Cap - Tony talking about retiring to the sticks with Pepper, like Barton did with his family. Did you notice how the base was labeled "new avengers facility".

Well yes obviously that's why I asked WHY DOES THERE HAVE TO BE A NEW AVENGERS FACILITY? Tony was talking about retiring to the sticks with Pepper (not that I really believe that), the New York tower is still fine, he isn't going to use it.

Still, being out in a field somewhere will help with potential civilian casualties. They could have just said something like that -- instead no explanation is given at all. It comes out of plot-nowhere.

If Stark isn't an Avenger anymore, why would he would continue to fund the team and provide it's facilities? It's also apparent that SHIELD has been reconstituted to some extent. It's likely that the Avengers have reverted to a SHIELD initiative. Even if Stark offered the tower as a base, I doubt SHIELD would take him up on it.

Yes, there is a lot of stuff going on that isn't directly addressed in AoU. And it sounds like some of it  will be addressed through Agents of SHIELD - http://www.slashfilm.com/agents-of-shield-age-of-ultron-plot-hole/

Good article.  Most of what it discusses I was was more-or-less aware of in the back of my head, but the piece more explicitly lays everything out.

No way in hell I could. Even in the uber-awesome leather recliners, sitting still for 6 hours wouldn't work for me. I wonder how much that marathon cost?

I will say that I'm surprised I haven't heard a peep out of anyone claiming some mortal offense or trigger warning for the "catholic rabbits" quip.  Personally, this Catholic found it damned funny, but given today's society-of-outrage-at-everything, I'm surprised no one's complained.

Too true Brant. I'd forgotten about that line. I can see an Avengers 2-part where the New Avengers go up against Thanos and company and in part 2 the Old Avengers are called in out of retirement to save the day. With Starke-Snark remarks aplenty.
