Steam summer sale

For the first time in...well...ever, I have yet to buy anything in the Steam Summer Sale! Will I hold out until the end? Will I cave in and buy something? Tune in next post, same Grogheads time, same Grogheads channel!

Stunningly, I have not purchased anything from these summer sales, I have barely even looked.  Not sure why, just on overload I guess.....did pick up Steel Beasts, but that was not a summer sale item.  We'll see if I can make it to the end too...

I haven't bought anything yet.. I bought Civ V BNW just prior, and I have put many hours into it this week.. I'm even hurting for sleep.. money well spent!... One more turn!

The other day I picked up Stardrive.  I still haven't figured this game out yet but I like it enough to keep me interested for a bit.

In doing some browsing I noticed that all of the Ironclads games are $0.99 on Steam.

DO NOT buy the bundle option- you can get them cheaper by buying them individually for .99 apiece ($5 vice $15 I think).

What's the verdict?  Seems like some decent gaming for less than a Quarter Pounder from McDonald's...

I picked up Universe Simulator the other day when it was a flash sale, but otherwise have bought nothing.  Like a lot of others, I just don't see anything I want...

Meanwhile, CMBN/CMFI are occupying what time I have for gaming, which hasn't been all that much, unfortunately.

I thought there wasn't enough to the series to keep it interesting.  The sim part is jockeying turn rate and speed for two or three ship divisions.  Nothing else.  The 'campaign' is just a number of straight-up open sea engagements between these two forces, then you repair ships in between and do it again.

I liked the concept of their original american civil war turn-based one but it needed more work on the game mechanics.  Instead, they just started anew with real-time settings, in all their later ones, and it ends up feeling more like you're steering in circles trying to keep your broadsides on each other.   :-\  It's no DG or SAI.

I recall at least one person mentioning they enjoyed it for what it is, so my views aren't universal.

I bought Dirt 3 for $6 and I'm already pissed off about it.  It uses GFWL but for some reason, it won't accept an offline profile like all other GFWL games.  Unless you create a full GFWL account and stay logged in, it won't save any of your game progress.  Hell, it won't even save your key bindings or audio settings.  And it's causing my CPU to overheat.  Got up to 74C after 20 minutes of play and caused my PC to shut down.  This with a 1050W PSU, 2 intake fans, 3 exhaust fans, a CPU fan, and a heatsink.

I bit the dust on the Fallen Enchantress: LH DLC. It wasnt even in the sale, but I reasoned I didnt buy anything the last few days, so I earned this instead. :)

Well $#!~, I can pickup all the Skyrim DLC for $22 or just save the money until I actually finish the original campaign.. or pick up FarCry3 or.....
