Thanks for the detail...just curious, does the enhancements of the latest version ultimately get applied to the remaining games in the SF2 series?

I don't know. Someone on SimHQ mentioned that he felt the avionics.dll in SF:NA alone was worth the $30. I guess this means that modders will have the opportunity to retrofit the avionics.dll in NA to other jets, like the F/A-18, if they choose. I don't know about the graphics stuff.

Looks really sweet ! I love the A-7 ! Never seems to get much press, unlike the F8 or A-6.

Nice. I have never survived an anti-shipping mission so far. To much AA and SAM activity. :(
I'm inclined to load up on anti-radar missiles and do stand-off runs as opposed to using the Walleye as the AAR did.

I like it but you have to understand I've been waiting for an updated version of the old "Fleet Defender" sim for a LONG time.

I think Thirdwire was about due to put out what is essential a study sim and the F-14 is a good candidate.

There are a number of bugs at this point but on the bright side a bunch of folks are already working on a "Red Storm Rising" campaign. I've already generated an A-10 anti-shipping mission ala that book but got my rear end handed to me by the vicious AA defenses.

If you like sims in general or have a taste for Cold War era naval aviation and combat it's a good buy.

I had convinced myself to hold off and wait, at least until the first patch is released, and because I'm pissed at TK for his attitude at watering down the series...alas, I broke down last night at 11:23 p.m. and bought it anyway.

Jarhead, do you find it watered down? I cant say as I never played teh earlier versions much. I mean, it aint no Falcon 4.0! What has he gotten rid of? I ask b/c I may go back and purchase some early versions like Vietnam. I'm diggin the A7

On a similar note, if I by the SF Europe, can I fly those planes in NA scenarios?

If you do what is known as a "merged install" you can fly all the aircraft in all the theaters. That's how I got my beloved A-10 to the North Atlantic.

Piece of cake. Just install all the TW sims into the same program folder. It used to be a restriction that you had to install them in the order of their release (SF2, SF2V, SF2E, SF2I, SF2NA) but I think they've since removed that requirement.

He has not watered down anything in NA...however, he has indicated that he feels the series is too "complex" and should be further eased to attract a wider audience for future releases.

I spied Jomni's Strike Fighters 2 screenshots, in the sceenie thread sticky, and wanted to see what mods people were using for theirs.

While browsing through some of the playable modded aircraft, I've noticed a few MiGs that mention they require an "Indo-Pak Mod". Is there a whole Indo-Paki War(s) compilation mod floating around out there? That would be a good place to fly some MiG-21 & 23s, which would could be fun IMO. Anyone tried it?
