I just bought a TrackIR

So I finally broke down and bought a TrackIR...it should be in next week. I should also be getting a new X52 Pro setup to replace my aging X52. For a person who is about as 'frugal' as I am...dropping almost $300 is a BIG deal. :)

However, unfortunately I now have even less of an excuse when I get shot down. :)

And you don't need to keep replacing it despite newer models (unless it broke).

...you will enjoy a great immersion in your games with you TrackIR, also try it in shooters like ARMA (if you have those)

Oh, I went ahead (my miserly ways got the best of me) and bought the TrackIR 4 with the Pro Clip. I didn't think the 5 would be worth the $50 premium...(for me at least).

I'm sure the 5 is better but...since I'm coming from nothing maybe I'll never know what I'm missing. :)

I've been quite happy with the TrackIR5 I bought earlier this year. It certainly makes flight simming much easier and immersive.

Haven't played a flight sim in about a week or two but Tuna sent me his TrackIR profile so I'm gonna check that out next time I do so. I dunno if you can convert profiles between TIR versions, however..?

I actually switched over to using the hat clip for when I'm flying solo. Wearing heaphones over my ears isn't something I enjoy and the small bit of extra weight with the extra usb line was getting annoying too.

The trackclip is a great addon too. Making Tracking much more stable and less light dependent.

Another tip; if you find your Tracking is a too jittery if you want to look at a static point in space, then enable VSync. I have found that I want VSync on in any game I use TIR with for a stable view control.

I'm really looking forward to trying it out. Now I just need to find a regular place to fly on DCS. The SimHQ servers are often empty, and the 51st servers are full but...I have no idea what is going on there. I know they are going for realism, but F10 for allies would be akin to a preflight briefing, kneeboard maps, and regular AWACS updates.

TrackIR is essential for flight simming. I won't even boot up a flight sim without it anymore.

I use a TrackIR 3 or 4 with the clip thingy and it works just fine for me!

Interesting timing, as I just re-installed Track IR 4 pro and got my RoF set up all over again. Studio 777 has really improved the interface for the controls since I last flew RoF. I'm still experiencing a little bit of chaotic viewing with the Track IR, but it may have been due to a lot of light in my room this afternoon while I was setting it up.

I had tried the facetracknoir setup with a cheap webcam and it was ok except for the poor framerate and laggy responses. Also with facetracknoir it wallows while your sitting still, like its having trouble seeing my face...probably because I wear glasses.

I'm excited about the Trackir!

I tried the DIY alternatives as well.... Was not happy with results. Then decided to take the TrackIR route. Very glad I did.
