Sword of the Stars II worth getting? I got the first one but never played... I thought the 2nd one had bad reviews when it first came out, did they fix it up?

From everything I've heard they have worked hard to fix up SotS2 very well, and it is entirely worth buying (especially on sale). I picked it and its two current expansion packs a few months ago.

However it plays somewhat differently from SotS1, so there actually is reason to still play the first game, as some people prefer the gameplay of one to the other.

Sheesh 5 hours to download 1.0+ GB. This reminds me why I don't buy from Gamersgate anymore.

^I don't have that problem with them.
Maybe it's a temporary thing (because of the sales or some other random crap).
I usually get good download speeds from them.

BTW, their servers were in Europe if I remember correctly.

I believe it is due to geography and internet infrastructure.
I am in Asia and I suspect it is routed through the US first if it is form Europe. This has been happening ever since.

The westernmost point of Asia looks to be where Troy once stood. Heinrich Schliemann was the man largely responsible for locating it, on the western tip of the Turkish mainland.
