Obama's a sexist. Pardoning Edward Snowden would have made more sense. Say what you will about Snowden but at least he thought he was doing it all for the greater good while having quite a lot to lose. The big takeaway I get from Manning is that (s)he was trying to get even with the World for getting picked on.

Treason clearly is not something that bother's Obama and we can all draw our own conclusions as to why that might be. And I have to wonder if Manning's sex change was an influence in any way. Maybe that's what Snowden should have done to draw the sympathy card from Obama.

Seriously, I can't wait to see the White House door hit this guy's ass on the way out.....

Obama came into office saying "diplomacy" and "acting with allies" is so amazingly important.

Being able to have confidential give & take with allies (and neutrals & enemies) is essential to diplomacy.

The huge confidential information dump that "it" (whatever sex it is) gave the world hammered our diplomatic efforts.  If you gave me that pile of data and paid my consulting fees, I could discern a lot about many things including:
a] US positions in reality vs public perceptions.
b] What gets the US attention (and what is ignored)
c] The way the US uses information to make diplomatic decisions
d] The decision process of US diplomacy

Having that information gives you a treasure trove of the actual decision making process & biases.

As wargamers, we know how valuable knowing how your opponent (or ally) makes decisions can be.

They should have shot Manning.  Obama let him go.  For somebody supposedly behind "diplomacy," Obama gave a big pat on the back to the single most damaging action in US diplomacy in the last 20 years.
