X Rebirth First Trailer

I'm in a storyline mission and the relations are screwed up such that the Heart of Albion and Plutarch won't fight each other. I tried editing them but it didn't work right away and I gave up. I figured I'd come back later to play once Dammit Jim is sleeping more regularly and I can have a better gaming schedule.

Just an update for those who put this one down for awile, there have been several huge patches over the last month that seem to have addressed most of the issues. Now, the game is- in essence- the same...so if you didn't like the overall game, you probably still won't. But, if you were just tired of bugs and such, it is much improved. Here is the latest patch

Are these auto updating on steam? I don't remember anything significant over the last few weeks.

Yes, the last was 1.25 and a hotfix. The top link is to 1.30 which is a beta. Sorry, should have mentioned that. Anyway, if you check the update history, you should have gotten a hotfix today (1.26 maybe?)

Edit: I noticed in the 1.30 beta that they now have STEAM WORKSHOP support...which is great for games that have tons of mods.

They have, current version is 1.25 with Hotfix 1.

I'm a bit disappointed to see that this is still going for $50 on Steam, and the forums are not being kind...even for Steam forums which are notorious for bitching about the target game.

Do we still have to walk around space stations to find people to talk to in the boring side game?

Not only was that dull and a waste of time, the way the space station walkabout was displayed gave me a headache.

I see people bitching about rebirth on steam in forums for different games...that's how bad ithe situation is.

Yep. I quit offering my opinion as to how enjoyable I found the game because on different sites, people would take that as some sort of personal attack and just rip into me for some reason... just became annoying. So now I pick it up I play it every now and then. I enjoy it. I like flying around and just looking at stuff. it's definitely not X4...it's just a different kind of game but I dig it. It's definitly not everyone's favorite space trading game

Been awhile since there has been any discussion about this series, but I figured I would mention that there are public test builds of new updates for X3 Albion Prelude, X3 Terran Conflict and X-Rebirth. I'm glad Egosoft is still actively supporting all of these games. Egosoft is also working on a VR exclusive version of Rebirth that will be released to early access sometime in the first half of 2017.

...perhaps the best news of all, though? The developer is working on X4...a true successor to X3, that everyone thought and hoped Rebirth would be. Fingers crossed.

I actually started a rebirth game 4 days ago. I run into the same problem that I do with every space/trading/open world type game: I can't enjoy RPG after a while and I need some type of goal. Just flying around and building stuff to no end loses me. Same thing happened to naval action and Elite.

But as far as the game mechanics go I did not run into any bugs and everything seems to be working normally. It's certainly not elite dangerous or star citizen but it's a lot more like the previous X games than it was at release

It has come a long way indeed. And if you just can ignore the fact that you're only able to fly the one ship I think Rebirth offers a great experience right now.
The way the world around you is alive and teeming with activity is unprecedented in any other game IMO.
Still, I would like X4 sooner rather than Rebirth. :) Big empire building is what makes these games so cool and Rebirth misses that mark just by a bit.
