$95, huh?  I think I'm going to have to hold off on that until I spend more time with FSX...make sure this isn't just some phase I'm going through, which it may be.  I'm like that sometimes.

Do you switch Autogen off in FSX if you are using a third party tool?

I took this
QuoteAs a bonus, the building and forest autogen that comes with it are outstanding. Night lighting as well.
to mean FTX Global comes with it's own autogen...and I was wondering if you had to stop FSX autogen for fear of over taxing the cpu for no benefit (what's the point in having FSX autogen running when FTX Global has it's own autogen engine)

I was referring to FTX Global as the "third party"

But all that money for just "Eye Candy"!... I think you cash would be better spent on this!

Expensive, but totally immersive, and you'd have cash left over! Note: You have to buy the Base B-17 as well.. so it ends up being 70 bucks. I spend more time looking 'inside' the cockpit than out... Yeah would be nice to see prettier landscape, but at that price!.. Again, I'm not hardcore like some of the fliers who log a heck of a lot more hours.. so to them, I can understand it being worth it.. But Judge, I see you as being like me.. flying every now and then (Though I have been putting a lot more time in lately with all that I've learned the last few weeks with the great help I got here!   8))

But still it's awesome!!!.. ask PanzersEast, he has it as well..

I'm thinking of attempting an around the world flight in it!..

Lol.. too bad I can't afford that Global GFX package!  ;)

JudgeDredd

Ah - ok...£40 is a bit more than I would like for a single aircraft

lol.. but more than that is ok for what's outside the Window!... sorry.. just kidding..

I was the same way Judge.. I actually bought the B-17 a year ago.. didn't want to pay the extra cash for the Accusim...

but then this August.. it was my birthday.. I figured what the heck..Panzer's East talked me into it..

It is awesome!.. So immersive!... Blow's away that L-1101...

Ask Toonce, I think he said he bought the Stratocruiser by them.. They really are awesome reproductions..

No you still keep the FSX autogen settings slider to your preference.  No need to turn off.
The way FTX Global works is that it overwrites fsx default scenery and autogen.  It is not like other scenery where you can turn it on or off in the scenery list.

I never got the Stratocruiser.  I got the PMDG 737 instead.

I joined Delta Virtual Airlines a couple of weeks ago and I've been spending most of my time flying their routes now.  It really gives some direction to my simming; when else am I ever going to fly into Salt Lake City?

I'm sticking to flying planes I'm rated in, and the routes those planes fly.  I'm enjoying myself so far.

In order to get rated in the MD-80 series I have to pass a checkride in the plane.  You have to record the flight in ACARS and then it gets evaluated by a chief pilot for compliance with the proper parameters handling the plane, following the SID/STAR and all that.  It's been quite a challenge to fly the plane by the book.

In a way I suppose it is.  It's not nearly as automated as the 737.  I find it more difficult to fly, but it could be because I don't have as much time with it.

The way DVA is set up they put groups of planes in "stages" that are roughly equivalent.  I'm in Stage 2 which included the 737 variants, the MD-80s, and the A-320 series.  When you sign up you have to choose which of the three groupings you want to start in; I chose the737 since I had the PMDG aircraft.  In order to fly a plane in the same stage besides the one you're in initially you have to fly a checkride in the plane you're applying to.

In order to promote to the next stage of plane you have to earn Captain in your main plane (737 for me) and then apply to transfer to the next stage.  For me this would be the 727.  I've been holding off on buying the Captain Sim 727 until I get promoted; kind of a reward to myself for doing it!
