Gus - I have Rome II - pre-ordered it. I started the game - not a campaign, but those 3 missions.

On the first one I noticed the AI doing exactly what the guy on the funny video showed - units running around kind of headless. They had plenty of units - just no attack. In the second part of "whatever that was" (tutorials? can't remember the specific name) I noticed the AI attacking but not in a good way - going for those damned capture points and directly for them. Have they got rid of them? Or enhanced them in any way?

I think something else came up and I moved onto something shiny new. I kept my eye on the Rome II thread for a while but then kind of lost interest.

Of course, I always intended to go back to it, but Civil War 2, FTX Global, Command...

Maybe one day...maybe soon.

W8 - I have to be honest, I gave F1 2012 all but a cursory glance because it ran like a dog on my system. I do know in F1 2011 I didn't experience that and I run will all assists off. Maybe try lowering your spring rate? I do know in F1 they removed the traction control - so if you do give too many revs when you have least traction (in a corner) then it's gonna spin.

Ultimately though, if it's causing you to not enjoy it, stick on Traction Control. If something was keeping me from playing the game and it had a workaround built in, I think I'd use it so I could play. Sod manliness!

Ah! The week-end. Okay, and I admit it: I thought Rome II was going to be great and I didn't like the tutorials, but my first few turns as Easy Pontus convinced me it was much better than even I expected. I've had some great battles with the AI as in they did well and I still beat them (or so it seems to me-- I do spend a lot of time in cinematic mode).

So...RomeII (as Rome, very satisfying. Those Romans can chew through some barbarians)

ARMAIII...still exploring Altis via small editorial battles

Flying Colors -- more work on fiddling with the rules

Take on Mars -- more trying to figure out how not to break the robot mast or arm things

Congratulations to the Gus'es on 11. My wife and I just had our 16th. Together... with each other I mean. Anyway, Judge I learned more about Rome 2 from just starting a campaign on easy that playing the tutorial. And after a month, I'm still learning things almost every time I play... buildings, economy, how to get better units and weapons. I wish the characters lived longer and could develop more.

I've been enjoying Civil War 2 quite a bit the last few days. While the look of the interface isn't as pretty, it has a little extra user-friendliness, minus the ROE buttons being moved into their own slideout :( .

I've only played some of the smaller scenarios; in the middle of the Western Campaign right now. Overall it's definitely an improvement on the original.

Judge I mean beware the patches for Rome II as they may nerf the game to run less than adequately. Beyond that I agree with Slash and the others that the game offers a lot for the brain to absorb. Lots of cool features and tidbits.

Interesting the wide variety of games Grogheads are into; everything from Torchlight 2 to Civ War 2, from Xenonauts to Command: Naval/Air Ops. I've been around from the start of PC gaming and feel we are truly in another golden age.

This is definitely the opposite of what some generally proclaim - "PC gaming is dying!". Proven wrong even more so than usual. ;D
