anyhoo from 1986 starring henry gibson, a satirical horror flick nearly in the tromavison style

actually pretty damn funny, just dont go near the friggin closet and you will be OK ....until henry gibson starts playing that damn close encounters crapola AND people start building houses without closets etc. ( closets being demolished on a mass scale deprive the monster of his cover ) SPOILER ALERT!

THE ACTOR also had roles in godfather part 2, cool hand luke, escape from new york and many many other movies - over 100 movies and 50 tv appearances!

well here goes, this should be relatively easy to guess even if you haven't seen it?

his other co-star, one of the great western movie charactor actors also partnered with him in THE WILD BUNCH! both playing supporting roles in WB to holden and borgnine....

stanton's been in over 100 movies from ALIEN, ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK ( he was the brain ) kelly's heroes, cool hand luke!

the other actor is......warren oates!  tough guy!

one more clue on the movie and a freebie at that, oates co-star in our flick is BEN JOHNSON ( most noted for westerns )

Well, I'm still stumped and I'm not gonna resort to the internets either.  I remember seeing a preview at the movie theater last year for an upcoming Bonnie and Clyde retelling.  I could be wrong though but I might be confusing some other 20's era movie.

The movie was Dillinger...but I only know that because I like the writer...John Milius.  I wrote an essay for the aforementioned film studies class on Milius.  His other works include Apocolypse Now!, Jeremiah Johnson (still one of my favorites), Dirty Harry, Magnum Force, The Wind and the Lion (also a favorite), Conan, Red Dawn, and this one...
