I'm not sure it's the school I went to, the curriculum we followed, or my history teacher but I want to ask you guys a question, which is the same question I got asked in my history class - my teacher said name me a political activist who joined a paramilitary movement to rise up against oppressors in his home land, who fought for his countries independence using all means necessary including the planting of bombs and accidentally causing the death of innocents - the times been what they were we all said Gerry Adams, and he said no - Nelson Mandela, now ask yourselves why the two are represented so opposite?

I think he'll be remembered for what he did later in life. When Botha decided to turn the government completely over to all the people, Madela could have brought the thunder and lightning, and not everyone would have objected. Instead he did the right thing by bringing their nation through the transition as peacefully as possible. Therein lies his greatness. I've told my kids he was human and had flaws, but he should be remember for doing the right thing when the wrong thing was both easy and easily justified.

He wasn't Ghandi, but maybe he'll be remembered as someone closer to Ghandi than not.
