Their 11 min 28 seconds is generous; one Youtube video clocks it more like 7:56 minutes. Much of which involves brief partial shots (including the infamous TV battle snippets in Honolulu.)

Seriously? The 98 zilla movie had an extra two minutes compared to this one? SERIOUSLY??

(And 12 minutes of Mutos, about 5 of which overlap with Godzilla.)


I was briefly thinking about picking up the movie on its Blu-ray release, but man...

There is no reason why this film should have been longer than 90 minutes. Or even 60 minutes.

Oh, there's much, much more wrong with the film than that.

I still can't get more than halfway through the Godzilla reboot. Glad I'm not the only one. This video and all y'all pretty much reinforce that choice.

It really was sub par. Kinda reminded me of Dark Knight Rises. It seems okay when you're watching it that first time, but the more you think about it after, the more you go WTF?

I'm worried my brother, who knows I love the property, got me this film for my birthday. He doesn't know how aggressively mediocre and flagrantly stupid it is.

Much like TDKR, I was fully on board when I started watching it, and felt assaulted by pain in increasing amounts as the film ran on. Yet I could not look away. See also: boiling a frog slowly.

I do want to clarify that I don't think people who like or love either movie are stupid. I'm unable to get past the many, many problems, but both films still have some obvious quality. (FWIW, I'd say TDKR was the better film overall, but I don't think anyone would dispute that.)

And G2014 isn't nearly as painful overall as G98 was/is.
