A crazy night of foot-to-ball. Started off by drawing with Bury in the FA Cup 1st round at home. Followed 3 days later by a league win at home. Then 4 days later we lost to a no name team in the FA Trophy qualifying round. 4 days after that was the replay at Bury. We go up 1-0 at 14', and then 2-0 at 81', though they were unlucky and denied 2 goals due to offsides. They responded though, and equalized with goals at 83' and in injury time. Then in extra time we jump ahead 3-2, but they pull back again ending extra time at 3-3. They then proceeded to win the shootout 5-3. 3 days later we had another league game and we lost that I think just due to being exhausted. Still sitting in 4th place in Skrill North as we head into December.

What a heart breaker with Bury.  Do you watch the games or sim them?  I watch everything except the friendlies.  If I was watching that Bury game I would've had to walk away for a little while to avoid doing something dumb.

I watch all of them. I have had it set at comprehensive highlights most of the season. I'm impressed with how far they have come with the 3d engine. I'll probably always have a soft spot for the dots, but I have been enjoying the 3d engine.

Bury were definitely the better team, but we gave them a good fight. You can just see the way they move about the pitch and handle the ball that the players are better.

Extended highlights are the way to go.  The plays the game out in 10 minutes or less.

It still kills me when people complain about the graphics or the game engine.  The graphics get better every year and the engine provides fairly accurate scores and stats.  I dare anyone to find a better sports management sim.

Grim.Reaper

I have to agree...can't imagine how anyone can complain about the 3D match engine graphics engine....looks simply amazing to me and no other career sim/text sim comes close to it in my opinion.  Whether it is statistically realistic, no idea since I am not a Football expert, but I have really never seen anything crazy yet.

If an American Football (FOF exists, but nowhere near the same) or Hockey (I know FHM/EHM exists, but not really close) game could be put together just like Football Manager, I would be extremely ecstatic!

Front Page Sports Football was probably the closest. I still miss that game.

It was a great game and one of my first PC games...really loved it.  Too bad never continued.

I hate Sierra for what they did to that franchise. They either should have let it continue as 2d, or let dynamix have the time to make 3d work properly before releasing. Instead they forced it out, then recalled it, and closed dynamix.

Yep, was a sad day when the game disappeared.  I still remember getting the first version, hunting down a copy near me....had to drive an hour or two in order to pick it up, but was well worth it....played the game to death!

Now we have nothing like it on the PC and likely never will.....

I still have 2 1997 versions (1 unopened), and 2 1998 versions of FPS Football.  That was the best game for American Football.  It's amazing that nothing since has really come close.

Congrats!  It really does spice up the game.  Unfortunately I had to add my own staff photos.  Welcome to the bottom of the barrel.
