Yeah I saw that one too, 4th Century is just about right. I miss the Huns. They weren't THAT bad though they all dressed like Klingons. The 1960's Klingons I mean, not the Hollywood ones. They just wanted a Home of their own-- with my head on the door.

  I thought the Huns ran amok in the 440s and 450s?  Which would be 5th century?  Were they up to their tricks in the 4th century too?

Oh, gods yes.  I would be as happy as a clam in mud! 

That being said, I've come to believe the latter will never happen, sadly.  However, I'm a bit surprised there's been no attempt (that we know of) to make the former. 

I must be the only one who isn't looking forward to Age of Wonders 3 and GalCiv 3.

My enthusiasm for GalCiv3 has admittedly been greatly dampened in the last few weeks.  The confirmation of no tactical combat, combined with screenshots indicating the sequel looks almost exactly the same as GalCiv2, makes me wonder what the point would be in getting the sequel...or for that matter, making said sequel in the first place.  You'd think they'd want to change things up at least a little bit. 

At this point, I mostly included GC3 on my list out of morbid/casual curiosity.

Hey the Huns run amok whenever the hell they want to. And they don't even know what amok means. They were never very good at telling time anyway. The hardest game I ever played was the BI Western Roman campaign. I never got close to even keeping the Empire together much less winning the campaign. And then just recently I saw a youtube video of a guy winning the campaign in just 10 turns!!! I REALLY hate that guy. >:( >:( >:(

That guy was me. Nah just kidding. But I did win the M2TW Crusades campaign in 17 turns.

It took me a lot longer than that to win as Jerusalem. I'm still playing an excellent Britiannia campaign as England in M2TW and up to my butt in angry Welsh and Irishmen. They don't make them like that anymore.

I don't "know" of any games coming out this year. I really don't. That doesn't mean I won't buy any...just that I'm "out the loop" regarding what's coming out.

We're better off that way.  No pre-release hype or post-release disappointment. 

It's nice not anxiously waiting and checking for release updates all the time.  When something new pops up these days, it's regularly a pleasant surprise to see someone mention it's release here or just plain seeing it pasted in the 'New Games' section of a retailer.

I couldn't do that for ages, in the past.  But now that I've owned & played so many games over the years, I've matured as a game purchasing addict to the point where I don't get all that excited for upcoming releases very often.  We can thank the massive increase in new games, indies, and big sales for this.  In short - digital distribution.  I would never say such things if we were buying computer games in brick and mortar stores as happened up until the mid '00s.  They just didn't release much all that often and when they did the stores limited how much shelf space available.  The pickings have blossomed immensely so the variety and value means we're swimming in it.  :D

For me me its Thief. I don't have any faith in Eidos and Square Enix being able to pull it off.

Eidos did a great job with Thief: Deadly shadows but Thief 4 does not have the same vibe...

For me personally, I'm most worried that the games I've either backed on Kickstarter or have purchased via Steam's early access program will end up being massive disappointments.  To date, these games are (note that they're all in my OP): 

M.O.R.E.
Horizon
World of Magic
Limit Theory
Predestination

Not that I'm expecting the moon with any of these titles, but I'll be very bummed it out if they're not at least "decent".  Right now, MORE is the one I'm mainly worried about, but I can't help but be at least a little apprehensive about the others as well. 

Granted, the other four seem to be pretty solid at whatever stage in development they're currently at -- an impression that's helped by the devs being very responsive to backers and/or open with the development process.  However, given that the notion of backing games via KS or Steam early access is still more or less in its infancy (or at most, the "toddler" stage), it's difficult not to be at least somewhat concerned.  As I said in another thread last week, this year will (for me, at least) be a watershed year for supporting games this way; either I will become an solid supporter of the idea, or I'll be too badly burned to ever do so again. 



Otherwise, the game on my list that I feel is most likely to crash & burn -- especially when compared to the expectations for it -- would be Age of Wonders III. 

Don't get me wrong, I'm  really looking forward to this one.  However, if the devs aren't careful, this could turn out to be the MOO3 of the fantasy strategy genre.

Warhammer 40,000 Armageddon

I am looking forward to this one, but I'm worried that it will be just as generic as Panzer Corps. A completely generic Warhammer game isn't much fun in my opinion.

On the other hand, if it has killer clowns, I'm buying it.

lol - agreed, the title gets me all moist - panzer corps with land cruisers for tigers doesnt - its a 'watcher'

Being able to use killer clowns was one of the main attractions of Warhammer 40.000: Rites of War, but sadly they were not in the Dawn of War series as far as I know.
