The best $2.50 you'll ever spend if you like tbs tactical games. Semi historical with questionable sci fi elements. Best ragdoll physics ever in a game of this type.

I agree a great little engine. Shame about the sci fi element..but still a great game. This engine needs to be resurrected and a whole series of historical wargame made using i.

I'll never understand why they didn't try to make a historic WWII squad level game with that engine.

I was doing beta testing on one of the Etherlords games back when this was hitting the beta stage.  I recall a dev posting a thread about which weapons people wanted to see in Silent Storm. 

There was quite a long list of WW2 weapons suggested in that thread, as evidenced by the plethora of weapons in the game.  I'm sure many of the more vague were never added.. there were many.  But at some point I think the fantasy stuff came up as a user suggestion and a small group of forumites latched onto the idea of their Steampunk-ish Nazi Power Armor suits and ran with it.  Must've convinced the developers to get a bit crazy in the latter part of the game.

From what I understand, there was a mod that took that stuff out of the game.  Dunno what it was called.   Either way, it is a great game and I had hoped that someone would've updated it and created something new with it by now.  It's ragdoll physics and highly destructible environments are awesome.  I just wish it supported widescreen resolutions.

Wait until you blast/spray through walls, knocking them down, and tossing the now-limp bodies of bullet/shrapnel soaked nazis all over the place!   ;D

Damn.. I should buy this a second time just to have a digital copy.  Although I will probably get it at GOG sometime.
