What I would pay money for is WinSPMBT with the graphics of Wargame Airland Battle (that is how I envisioned playing it when I bought it) or World in Conflict..

So have they finally fixed the AI so it doesnt boggle all units in one road hex when it advances.
I would love to get back into the game but its really a gamebreaker for me when you can halt an entire offensive with 1-2 pak covering a main road

Pix are good Mike on my rig Mike. Try right clicking then into a new tab and see if they load there. Then reloading the tab with the thread. Sometimes that forces the page to display them.

..was able to see them when i copied the links getting visible from inside the  'quote function' of that post into the URL-line of my browser
the problem was the schweinehund ! of a picture service wants to place its adds under the image ...so link was not a 'dirct link' at least for my browser

Just updated mine. I appreciate what Shrapnel Games have done for the community, but have a hard time swallowing the price tag for the enhanced addition. For those of you that have it, is it worth the precious gaming dollars (or pounds in my case? ;D)? Also I don't see that Shrapnel have a UK distributor? Any views?

Gary Grigsby has stated he is intending to make a new Steel panthers...though god knows when that will be considering they have to do WITW then WIE. Still he has also stated he has the most fun making tactical scale games. I want to see a monster tactical game come out at some point and Mr Grigsby is prob the best one to do it.

I have the cd version and definitely think it's worth it, but then I use it to make my own scenarios and maps too. If anyone's interested, I've been building a series of scenarios about a Russia-China war in the far east in 2020 called "A Land War in Asia." The first four are included in the latest update to winSPMBT. I'm pretty proud of them.  Good scenario design makes up for many shortcomings in the AI imho.

Couple items....

1)  When people say the CD version, are you able to buy and download that version or is it only available through physical media and delivery?

2)  I have been trying the free version, when I alt-tab out of the game and come back in, graphics totally screw up....do other people see that?

The 'CD' versions of SP are both physical and D/L. I have one on disk and the other as D/L.

with the 'actual' (or even 10 yeas old, like mine) hardware that will be a blast of game :)

i wouldn't be surprised if they will do an I-pad version too  (but are a little shy for Android, as today)

In the absence of anyone making a modern version of a similar game I'm considering buying this again having brought numerous versions of the basic game over the years. Playing the demo at 800 x600 on a 1900 X1050 monitor I can just about live with graphics. However its the only game I can ever remember hurting my eyes due to the size of the fonts. I would expect to go blind within a week playing this. I notice that the CD version has a, 'use large font option', does this increase all of the text font size in the game ie briefings, weapon data, maps etc? If so it would be worth a purchase for this feature alone.

my '50+ years retina' would like larger fonts too  ;) ... (i even run windows at 125% for convenience)
