I want Golf Club too but dunno if I want to deal with it in Alpha/Beta just yet.

It will be interesting to see how this one turns out.....after reading a FQ (posted in separate thread), it really does seem like it caters to the multiplayer crowd versus single player....but even with that, I think I will get my money's worth playing casual rounds on customer courses....no disappointment yet.

JD, maybe someday you and I will have to square off on a course:)

I've been having a blast playing a couple of custom courses all day. It's rough in places. Camera is kinda slow and you want to hurry it up...especially when you are in a bunker with a few feet to the water and so you have to aim BACK up the fairway...turning your aim round is sloooooow.

Other things is the total lack of control you feel you have with a mouse. I obviously have no idea if that is different when using a controller or whether it's just not being displayed in game yet...but I'm finding it very hard to get a swing going between 50 and 100% unless I'm using the putter. There's no on-screen feedback during the swing.

It is alpha though...and I am able to go around and play pretty well.

GR - you could be right about the multiplayer. But that's no biggie for me. I'm not a huge fan of MP - but I can go it in a sport game I think. I have went to play a 4 player game, but had no idea how to have other players on my game. The couple of times I tired, it seemed the same two players were there - which was weird. I don't know if the player list is the list of players waiting to be invited or whether they are in game (would they really just be sitting there?)

Anyway - the interface has a ways to go (Continue? Tee Off? etc...) and not knowing whether you are continuing a game or starting a new one (trust me - continue game isn't necessarily what it says from what I saw!)

But it's plays pretty good. As this is Alpha, it's in good shape and I'm looking forward to what beta has to offer and the final game! It's an enjoyable golf game so far!

Agree with a lot of what you said, especially about speeding up the gameplay...hopefully final version will allow you to pass the cut scenes and speed up the shots.  I have been using the controller and it takes getting use to, can't really judge my power...that is one reason I would love to see an optional 3-click system but I guess I will get use to it.

Just finished a round, but the game crashed before it could record the results...kind of good since I was +9 :)

We can hook up if you want. I'm about for the next hour or two if you are.

I started an epic game of CK II tonight.  Nothing like being in a fight to the death for my Duchy with my great uncle who is married to my sister.....
You've gotta love how that game is just one huge soap opera.  ;D

By the by, how's the game running with the new patch?  I've not done more than dink around with it a little since the latest update.

I've had no issues with it and I'm pretty far into my game.

And I agree the stories that come out of this game could make an awesome tv series.

So I won the fight for my Duchy and then my ruler went and had 6 daughters.  So I switch to elective succession and picked the best of my daughters for the next ruler.  When she comes of age I find her a husband with awesome stats and arrange a matrilineal marriage so that I keep all my titles.  Shortly after the marriage is final I realize that the dude was my Great Uncle and sister's oldest son .... So I guess in the end he won.  :)

Let me see if I can figure out how to find you online within the game....and go figure, mine is Grim.Reaper:)

If you go and log in, I'll look for you in the list. It's not a big list, so should be a quick find (though I hope they sort that too - 'cause it's not searchable!)

I got the big reprint from Eagle Games last month.  The board is friggin massive, as are some of the components.  It has a revised set of the old rules, plus a fancier new set of rules with additional stuff.

The kids seem to love the basic game thus far.  Easy to teach and the turns are quick.   I think it's easier to teach them this than any of the other old Milton Bradley series like Axis & Allies, Shogun/Whatever-its-called-now, and Fortress 'Murica.

I don't recall ever playing the original, although I had all the others in the MB series.  From what I've read, the catapults were revised in the new one.

They should have.  In the original, they were overpowered.  A high cost, but, good defense and awesome offense.  Nothing could stand in their way.  Does my heart good to know that the game is still being enjoyed.

I picked up Allied Corps for $5.00 at Matrix, so I'll be playing some of that. Also I'm still hooked on AoW3.

Holy crap!

So I've had Birth of the Federation installed on both the XP and the Win7 halves of my hard drive for quite some time now.  However, I'd not gotten around to installing MPR++ onto the Win7 version until yesterday.  Well I don't know what I'd been doing wrong previously, but I obviously hadn't had it installed correctly before (at least not on the XP version of BOTF), because ZOMG! the game looks freakin' fantastic now, especially where the ships are concerned.  It makes BOTF look like a game that's merely 5 years old, instead of 15.  :P

The bad news is, MPR appears to be incompatible with a lot of the community-made patches/fixes for the game.  So at least for the moment, I must decide which I value more -- gameplay, or snazzy visuals.  Argh!  Why can't I have both??

Hold on:  So your great uncle -- and the new husband to your capable daughter -- was your own nephew??  :o  WTF??!

That would be correct.  ;D  I am hoping that this unholy union will breed me an heir that can get my dynasty back on the straight and narrow.
