So when you post a question to Steam support, how long does it generally take for them to get back to you?  Thirty minutes?  Six hours?  A couple days?  Just wondering how long I should expect to wait to hear back from these yahoos.

what's specifically the problem, Martok?  possibly some of the Steam veterans around here could provide some help?  Or is it something only Steam admins are going to be able to handle?

It's the latter, I'm afraid. 

A few weeks ago, I had (for reasons I won't bore you with) enabled Steamguard on the Win7 half of my hard drive.  Then earlier this morning, I went to fire up the XP half of my hard drive, and was prompted to log into Steamguard again -- no surprise there.  However, I didn't receive an email with a Steamguard access code like I was supposed to.  So now I have to wait for Steam support to send me a new one.

^ Is it possible that the email from Steam was intercepted by your spam filter. This happened to me.

Afraid not.  My junk mail was the first place I checked after my inbox.

Sorry to hear this Martok...going to Steam support is my nuclear option. Maybe the Steam forums could help you?

Thanks for the suggestion, Gus!  As it turns out, the forums did help in a way. 

A brief perusal of the forums quickly made it clear there had been widespread issues since last night regarding Hotmail/Outlook users (of which I am one) not getting Steamguard verification codes.  I say "had", because when I went back to the forum's first page, someone had posted that the problem appeared to have now been solved.  So I went ahead and tried logging into Steamguard again, checked my email once more, and voila!, there was my access code at last. 


So all's well that ends well, at least in this case.  With all the horror stories I've heard about Steam support over the years, I'll not deny breathing a quiet sigh of relief!  Thanks , fellas.  :)

No kidding.

The couple times I used it, they just sent me a prefab'd response a few days later that told me nothing, or had nothing to do with the issue I reported.   ::)  Luckily they got them fixed... eventually.  After nearly two weeks, in one case. 

But these reports were some serious stuff that everyone with those games were experiencing and Steam had probably received a large amount of CS reports for those issues.   There's no telling how long it would take if it's not so widespread a problem, if you get any proper assistance at all.

My experience with Steam support leads me to think that they are about as much use as a chocolate tea-pot. Its one of the reasons why I'm trying to avoid steam as much as possible.

I hate myself a little bit more every time I log off Outlook.com and get assaulted with MSN.com.
