Sadly, over the last day, the addition of Negro League statistics has fallen to the political tribalism of our times.

Clearly this is the most sweeping change to official Major League Baseball (MLB) statistics ever. That is not hyperbole...EVER! So I can see that these changes rock the boat.

But when folks start equating these changes to "culture war" hot buttons...like "wokeism" (whatever that is), it really makes me sad.

The beauty of baseball is that in the end, players are only evaluated by their statistics. Pee Wee Reese, who was a southerner, and Dodger short stop as Jackie Robinson was coming in to the Major Leagues, encapsulated this idea. It was a time when some players were threatening to boycott Robinson's presence. Pee Wee said something like, 'if Robinson is a better player than me, he deserves my job.' Robinson probably was a better athlete, so fortunately for Reese, Robinson played first and second base and Reese got to keep his job. As a side note, Reese and Robinson famously became good friends.

Quote from: Jarhead0331 on Today at 11:23:06 AMI read that there is no base building of any kind either. What happens between missions?

There is a screen between missions that allows you to level up, choose new powers etc.

Mission selection screen usually gives one or two choices for new missions. They seem to be set piece affairs, not dynamically generated.

Interestingly, the mission screen also allows you to select old missions, that you have already completed...so you can play them again...but that just does not feel right in my case.

There is a story, for what its worth. But it does not seem to be dynamic.

No base building.

Developer did say the campaign was linear so not sure how much replayability there is.  I bought it as well, but haven't played it yet.  Seems getting decent reviews for what it is, an average or so game.

Couldn't resist hitting "buy"... played a little bit with it.

It's fun in a X-Com-like way as far as tactical combat goes.

But not sure about the strategy element. Mission progress seems like it might be on rails...but not sure...maybe because I'm still early game. If true, maybe replay-ability is limited?

Computer Gaming / Era One - new game by homeworl...

A new game by the homeworld complex mod team. I had never heard of it and it was brought to my attention today. Looks ok but the larger ships are damned ugly. Not a fan of the whole first person option in a game like this either.

Apart from that it looks really interesting. This could easily surpass homeworld3 and is out in quarter 4 this year but will continue development after that.

I imagine the proliferation of massive amounts of point defence weapons will be one thing
