I'm really looking forward to Monday when the final version of Divinity:Original Sin drops, but for now it's Risen 2, MOO 3 with the Tropical 1.3.1 mod, the Android port of Da Vinci's Art of War, aka Magnifico, and the latest build of Buzz Aldrin's Space Program Manager, which I understand to be pretty close to finished.
No brainer for me....Sniper Elite 3.
I will have a significant portion of Saturday to fill, so, Civ IV BtS will be on the menu. I've been jonesing for an old fashioned paper and pencil D&D session, but with noone to play with, I may have to peruse the Steam Summer Sale and see if there is anything that tickles my fancy.
Probably Company of Heroes 2 with the new western front armies expansion and Sniper Elite 3.
Europa Universalis IV, Spintires and some Borderlands 2 :)

Distant Worlds Universe tonight. Heading out of town tomorrow afternoon for an overnight road trip. If I don't get back too late on Sunday, will either continue my current Distant Worlds campaign or the new battlemage I created in Skyrim the other night. Feeling retro so I fired-up M2TW and installed the Darthmod for it. Nothing like catapaulting dead cow carcasses onto castle defenders to take you back. The mod adds a few new tricks to make the game feel fresh and ups the challenge somewhat. And it's Darth's last mod which makes it of historical significance. And it's FREE. I :smitten: free.

I don't really recall. IIRC there were some crashes from specific situations. It may well have been fixed by now, however.
The East was recently added sometime in the past year (?) so the mod practically doubled in size. I'm sure there have been some bugs to squash since then. I was going to just play the last Andal-only version but I didn't see it for download at the time and figured I'd wait awhile until the new one was up to speed.
I have done some damage this year on the Steam sale..much more than ever before. On tap for this weekend:
Dominions 4, Gearcity, Dragon Age II, Ultimate General: Gettysburg.
Of these four, Dominions and Gearcity are the ones I will invest the most time in. I have a very strong need to top the 367K light trucks I made in the last game. I want to develop something the the VW Beetle..timeless in its design, and only upgraded over the years.

Can't comment on the collection, I only got the base game for $4.99 but now wish I had gotten the dlc's too. It's a lot of fun. It's not Skyrim(totally open world). It's somehwere between Two Worlds 1(single player) and Dragon Age Origin(spoken dialogue, good unfolding story).
As usual, I have all sorts of plans for what to play this weekend, but in reality there will be only...

Finished getting my Wizard to level 70 the other day, so this weekend I will probably spend some time working on my Demon Hunter in Diablo 3. I also jumped into Wildstar this week, so I will spend time with that. I would like to get back to my Distant Worlds game too. And also Age of Wonders 3, Fallen Enchantress: Legendary Heroes, Eador, and Warlock. In the end I probably won't get much done beyond Diablo 3 and Wildstar and will spend the rest of the time reading American Gods, and Playing at the World.
I do hope to get some Graviteam Tactics/Steel Armor in today.
I'm sure I'll also spend some time with my usual staples- Red Orchestra 2 and BMS Falcon...

I was big into Dota 2 for a while but only with Bots. I'm intimidated at the prospect of playing with people because of all the lingo you're supposed to understand and because it's one of those games where newbs are generally not welcome. Are you part of a group that would take in a newb?

Unexpectedly I've been playing King Arthur 1 all night (Saxons Campaign). I can't believe how much stuff there is going on that I didn't realize before...like diplomacy. ::) I'm a big fan of this game...I'm thinking it might be time to revisit the main campaign again and see if I can't beat it.
Still fairly highly recommended for a more in-depth Total War clone with some RPG aspects. Not for everyone, for sure, but definitely a hard game and one with a lot more depth than you might think.

As I'm sure you're aware, playing with Humans is another game entirely. I strongly encourage you to give it a try. Believe me, there's no wetter player than I (I'm a weekend warrior only and don't even care if I win or lose, I only care about my own performance) but I get along just fine. The matchmaking system is really good, so if you're a noob you'll be playing with other noobs who will be making all the same silly mistakes as you. :) Really, at the lowest level you just need to worry about not dying...leave any advanced tactics to the higher levels.
I'm part of the Rock Paper Shotgun guild and I'm pretty sure they're welcoming to noobs - you can hang around in the Rock, Paper, Shotgun channel to get an invite. There's also a channel specifically for noobs...I can't remember what it's called so I'll find out for you. Probably Dota2Noobs.
I'd be quite happy to play with you too, although I tend to only play late evenings on weekends, UK time.
But really, don't be put off. I'm
rubbish but I don't get a lot of criticism, and when I do I just mute the offender and carry on playing. It doesn't happen often.

King Arthur I is a great game, it's crafted in such a way that it seems like it was created in the late 80s/early 90s. Has that solid storytelling vibe. You can tell the developers were really into it.
In other news, I would like to rename one of my Rome II Carthaginian generals Zod so all in-game factions can kneel before him.

It's a shame what they did with King Arthur II. The series had so much potential to be one of the best in the history of strategy gaming. Instead, hey took it down the wrong direction cause the series to disappear into the gaming dustbin of history.

I think it's a great game. Re-installed the
King Arthur Collection on my desktop a couple months ago, intending to play it again, but I've been trying to spend some time with newer stuff first.
My main complaint about the game is the graphics rendering engine, or whatever they did to it. I could change the gfx settings all day long and it would make little difference in the performance. The framerate always seemed a bit on the low side no matter what I did and I heard many others bitch about it too. They must've had something odd going on. I try to keep mine steadily above 40 fps on must stuff but this one seemed capped at 30.
I had picked up KA2 but never even played it after learning that they removed much of the managerial stuff in favor of a canned procession. While I did enjoy the first KA's scripted campaign for it's uniqueness, I enjoyed the open stuff more with all the DLC. Instead of expanding on that, they eliminated it in the sequel. :(
Don't forget that there is a Modern Air Power version iOS/Android version you can try before buying one of the PC version.

I've been playing Horizon almost non-stop but just about to dip into the Making History: Great War update.
I played 4 hours of Rome 2 today...I can't remember the last time I played for so long. Attempted to sack Rome but my one stack army got surrounded by four Roman armies and pummeled. It was a great, fun battle though. I shall return!

So I was playing a little Combined Arms a bit ago. I set up a quick mission and then jumped into the commander seat of a Bradley section, posted to stop the advance of some Russian armor. I'm not sure what I did, but I must have clicked something wrong or else something was out of calibration, but my turret started this thing where it transversed left without any input from me. It must have been a controller issue because eventually all of my vehicles were doing that when I got into them.
Anyway, I kept fighting it with my mouse and moving from vehicle to vehicle, and between trying to get the turret pointed in the right direction and the hull of the vehicle pointed in the right direction, and fighting with the gears every time I switched vehicles and they defaulted to neutral (and would inevitably start rolling downhill), and so on...I could feel myself getting a headache. But I was deep into the mission by this point and I kept going and going...and then suddenly my stomach sort of did this roll like I was going to barf.
WTF.
Now I feel like there's a spike in my head, and I feel queesy as queeze. I actually had to go take a tylenol.
Not the way I wanted to spend my mid-afternoon gaming session! :(

No. I'm usually ok, but it was just a combination of continually fighting the controller and view, and the way every time I switched views the vehicles were spinning all over and the disconnect between my inputs and what I was seeing on screen. CA doesn't usually have any negative effects on me.
I knew it was giving me a headache but I kept pushing myself. Fortunately the Tylenol is helping some.

So what really happened? Lots of Hoplite (board game) and WitpAE (I found the Kido Butai without suffering major loses!) and some ARMAIII.
I'll try to explain my fascination with Hoplite down in the Board game AARs. For now I'll just note that it has lots of things that work out for me in board games:
1) smaller maps (except for Platea)
2) fewer units
3) somewhat workable as solitaire
4) battles and tactics with a few twists
Combat Commander was sort of like this but not as dynamic (in solitaire -- with cards I guess you'd expect that).

My weekend in large part ended up being Diablo 3. I moved my Demon Hunter from level 16 to level 43. I also spent time reading Playing at the World. I picked up another book, Of Dice and Men which is also supposed to be a history of D&D to see how it compares with Playing at the World. I ended up spending no time on Distant Worlds or any of my fantasy 4x games.
Also picked up Age of Wonders III during it's sale.. Having fun with it, but thinking, I have to work more with FELH to win. But the Graphics are really nice.. anyways was a great deal at 20!
Since the wife and kids are in Arizona and I'm at home (albeit with the mother-in-law, unfortunately, as she lives with us), I have exactly bubkus going on this 4th of July weekend. No parties, no fireworks, nothing, so hopefully, GAMING.
I might try more of State Of Decay this weekend after getting it cheap on Steam. Still thinking about getting the Might & Magic 6-pack and F-117 from GOG (I missed the sale for M&M, it's now ten bucks instead of four, but that's still a good deal for many possible hours of gameplay).
Have to give Cruel Necessity and Picket Duty a whirl this weekend too, and more Birth of the Federation and Blood and Bridges to get some articles to GH...
I've also been the backseater in a Piper Warrior whilst a buddy was having a flying lesson. Its a bit cramped.
What was interesting was that having 'flown' one for bloody hours in FS9/FSX, all the controls and instruments were instantly familiar and I could follow everything. I even found myself trying, despite limited vision from the back, to scan the 6 primary flight instruments.
lol.. I should've been in front on the way back, but, my Son didn't touch the yoke at all on the way there. So when we were getting in to go back, he said you sitting in front now Dad? I said "No, you need to get some stick time".. My friend let him take the controls the rest of the day.. it was an awesome experience for him!.. lol.. if there's a 'next' time, I will definitely want to get some stick time. My friend said I should sign my son up for lessons. LOL I'd like to sign me up for lessons!.. My older son doesn't' really need to go to college right? >:D
Tell your son he's gotta work his own way through college, and that the experience will be the best school he's ever gone to. ;)
Finally started playing S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Clear Sky three years after I used my GG blue coins to get it for free. Enjoying the game so far.
