Looking forward to the new season, though I'm not sure what to make of the symbolism of Ragnar holding a crucifix as there is zero historical evidence he was spiritually influenced by what were then called the Tales of the White Christ.

Each season jumps ahead several years. Sack of Paris would be in the mid 800's

I don't think it's on Netflix. But MD/Bison I'm watching it on History's website right now. It's got highly annoying commercials but I'm more into it this time around than before. Getting pumped for Season 3.

I really liked the premier. Good to see all the old faces back and a well-done battle at the end. The PC element is back in full though but it's entertainment not history.
I liked it too. Lots of hawt pagan women. Lagatha (SP?) is just too hawt.
Good first episode but not sure how the two commanders in the last battle did not recognize the error in their plans of dividing their forces and putting them on opposite sides of the river where neither could support the other....and worst yet making one of the groups much smaller than the other.....gee I wonder what any enemy leader would do seeing that:)
Still loved it and look forward to the rest of the season.....
My girlfriend and me have a saying for the dumb, obviously story driven reasons for things happening in shows and movies, "because Hollywood." For example, the last Tom Cruise move, "Edge of Tomorrow," gave him the ability to relive the same day(s) over and over every time he was killed. At one point in the movie, he and his co-star, Emily Blunt, were in a situation where they discover something that they can use to further their cause, but, she dies in the attempt. He, of course, is reluctant to go through with it as they have played the scenario out many times before and she, for some reason oblivious to the outcome even though he remembers it, powers through and dies anyways. It's the same thing every time. And my simple thought was, "Why not just stop somewhere else or do something different? There is nothing in the movie that seems to force you in to what you are doing EXCEPT for the story." Because Hollywood.

Tonight's episode is particularly awesome.
I kind of feel the opposite, the show's been getting a little silly last couple of episodes. Plots headed in all directions, the whole supernatural angle, and I don't know what the hell Ragnor's up to-- farming or raiding or both at the same time. Still a great show and worth the time to watch. But noticeably less naked women this season. >:( >:( >:(
I bailed after two episodes. I did the same thing last year. In part, it's because I don't watch much tv and it doesn't occur to me to remember that it's on. It's not Sons after all. And second, there's just something about Ragnar that doesn't seem urgent enough. Like, he is supposed to be larger than life so that his destiny has to fit him, rather than the other way around. And I'm just not feeling it.

I thought the series was slow to start but I am enjoying it more now than previously. Ragnar strikes me as a total loon...I am constantly waiting for him to kill someone. And I personally like the supernatural angle. It 's subtle, not too over the top. And most of the women are stunningly hawt. My favorite is Lagurtha and the King of Wessex' daughter in law, that nubile strumpet!`

Although I am enjoying the season, personally have thought so far it has been my least favorite season. Three episodes left, so certainly can change my mind.
I couldn't get into it in the first season, slogged through the 2nd season to catch up for this third season and now I am totally engaged. Missed the most recent episode...hopefully will be able to catch up on that one online this afternoon.

Easily the best episode of the season, if not the entire series so far.

Feel really sorry for Ragnor..he proper loved Athelstan. He will get loads of grief now they saw him baptised.
What is ilking Ragnor anyway? Is it a festering wound? I coukd barely watch him in agony in the last episode.
As long as Lagurtha and her fighting chest survive I will watch this show.
The fall from the city wall, on the way down he hit his back and side very hard. The show has him both spitting and peeing blood which would indicate severe internal injuries(kidneys and lungs). He could survive it but you'd have to tough as a Viking to do it. I don't think they'll write him out of the show, he's too big but will probably be side-lined while somebody else takes over...Rollo... Leaving a nice plot line to be resolved next season. I didn't get to see near enough of Lagutha's wet Viking suit to suit me. I thought leather shrunk when it got wet. The Fenchies are doing it all wrong. They should take a wagon-load of their wine down to the Vikes and have a Seige Party, get good and drunk, and then both load-up and go beat the piss out of Wessex.

The myth is Ragnor was pushed into a snake pit by the King of Northumbria..I think. I do hope they break from the myth though..as it isn't really historical fact. It seems they are taking historical events but tweaking them to fit into the story..as Paris was under siege and that to failed but not when Ragnor was supposed to be alive. I've found the acting superb in this serious esp Ragnor..he can say it all with just a look and curl of the lip.
As for his son getting better..I have a feeling they have been besieging Paris for a few months now due to hem suffering from illness and running out of food. Plus his disabled son seems to be getting bigger. Also I wonder if Ragnor just goes to sleep and wakes up with new tattoos he is that much of a Viking!
Lagurtha is fit. Saw the actress interviewed on BBC news a few months ago and to be honest she looks better in the series. They dye her hair and eyebrows for the show. Sill lovely though.

I knew they couldn't keep my man Ragnor down. He just had to show those other Vikes how the KING handles it. The only thing missing was making love to the princess on the way out of town, she needs it. Just a little silly but otherwise a great ending to the season.
