It's REALLY good to see this new Star Wars movie using several unknown or little-known actors.
I'm sure Disney knows a good $$$ deal when they see one. I can't imagine what Ford, Fisher, Hamill, and the others were paid. Hopefully they're more than just cameos.

It did have something of a happy ending. But thinking of Hayden being under Vader's mask for the REAL three movies...sigh.
I really enjoyed III. My daughters are not allowed to watch it yet though, still a little too young. They LOVE the originals. We all applauded yesterday while watching the movie trailer multiple times :)
And I hate Hayden Christiansen as well. UCG is correct IMHO with the whole burning and ending bit.

I've done some research on this and it seems that the recommended order in which to watch the series is:
IV, V, II, III, VI and skip episode I altogether. I wish I could remember where I saw that, but the guy who posted it had a whole long thesis on why this is the way to do it. Like you watch 4 and 5 first. Then you go to 2 and 3 and it's like a flashback and so on. The author says that enough back story is provided in 2 that you don't need to see 1 at all, which apparently sucked that bad. And then 6 finishes it all off.
I embarrassed to admit that I've never seen 1-3. I keep meaning to watch them sometime. :-[
I actually made myself go back and watch I, II and III awhile back. I have to say, I is the best of the three, and it isn't even close. II and III contain way too much HORRIFICALLY acted love story and an increasingly incomprehensible plot. Phantom Menace doesn't feature any 10 minute dialogue scenes about senate politics, and the pod racing scene is actually pretty sweet. Jake Lloyd sucks, but he gets a lot less dialogue than the craptacular Hayden Christensen. Also, III reduces the Emperor to a cackling Star Wars approximation of the Tales From the Crypt Crypt-Kepper during the fight with Yoda, and also...this (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WWaLxFIVX1s).

Despite the common haranguing the prequels got, I was glad to have
something from the Star Wars universe in the intervening time.
I actually thought #3 was good. Probably because it was so dark and it was nice to see the ever-whining Anakin character get f'd up. It's telling that it was also the one with the least input from Mister Ewok & Jar Jar Lucas, so that bodes well for the new stuff even despite Disney being at the top of the chain.
The latest trailer also made me feel giddy.

One thing I REALLY DO like and WANT BADLY, which is incidentally based on the first movie (The Phantom Menace), is the Avalon Hill game called "Star Wars Queen's Gambit."
It's hard as hell to find now as it's out of print and in very high demand (it was released back in 2000).
There's one on eBay right now for $290, and if you check it out on Amazon, you'll find one for the not rip-off price of $1,009.99! Whotta deal! ::)

As for Hayden Christiansen not being able to act, I find myself suspecting that there's a deeper rout cause there.
The simple truth of the matter is that Lucas always struggled with dialogue. If he hadn't had Sir Alec Guinness and a little-known Harrison Ford delivering a lot of those one-liners, I'm not sure IV would have turned out half-way as well as it did. Just one example:

I think another part of the problem is that none of the actors were actually reacting to anything real. Everyone was just hopping around green screens and being told to 'duck now' and 'talk in that direction...we'll add in a digital creature later'. I don't think that's going to give much of anyone a chance to actually act.

Oh Hell yes! This is my absolute grail game.
I've been in commercials, some web series, and local films as well as stage plays over the last 6 years, but I do not call myself an 'actor' because I do not make a living at it. I've maybe made $2000 over the last 6 years for my efforts, and the hours I've spent in my not-work time would probably make that amount come out to $0.000001 per hour. But I've loved each and every moment of it - it certainly ain't about getting rich! :)
That all said, I've met and worked with a lot of people that DO make it their living, and it's very easy to tell apart those that really engross themselves in their role(s) and become their characters; you do not see the dividing line between them and their character. Then, there are those that are themselves and obviously pretending to be someone else. That might sound like I'm describing the exact same person, but there's a very sharp distinction between the two. The difference is, the former is that person, while the latter is just wearing their clothes, if that makes sense. Hayden Christensen is by far in the latter category. Some people have the ability to become another person, while others just put on the suit and pretend, and it's very, very transparent.
Don't ask me whom I think I am. I don't think I'm all that great, but I keep auditioning and getting minor parts here and there. If I were terribly confident and not married and have no kids, I might live in LA and try my luck. Hell...I'd trade all that for a copy of Star Wars Queen's Gambit. :coolsmiley:
