I've kept the Prince theme going this week because he was a legend in the music industry and in my "formative" years extremely influential in opening my mind to all kinds of music.
A very unique sound, some fantastic guitar and piano playing (in fact he could play a plethora of instruments), superb showman and don't forget The Revolutions - a superb band. A great all rounder for the music industry.
Well, it's
Captain America:Civil War tonight, so no gaming. Also, I'll be (hopefully) completing my Revell Su-27SM 1/72 scale model (a mix of being a pleasure and a bitch to make)...thread here if yer interested...

But - it is a long weekend, and I WILL do some gaming.
F1 2015 is on my radar and I might even have a chance to fire up
American Truck Simulator which I bought almost 2 weeks ago and have not been able to play yet.
I'm also meeting up with Bob and His Amazing Tash (virtually) and playing a Vassal game of
Band of Brothers:Ghost Panzers
Another great song from Prince!
It seems that lately i always plan more than i can chew....kids, wife and falling asleep....
Anyway...here's the list of the games i would like to play: Grand Ages: Rome, Grand Ages: Medieval, Oriental Empires, Sengoku and Master of Orion.
My gaming time will most likely be split between Diablo 3 with the new season starting, Offworld Trading Company, and Ashes of the Singularity.

You'll be able to indulge very soon - Sengoku is due imminently in early May. O0
I'm also waiting for Oriental Empires, which looks a bit like China 'Total War' on steroids. :)

Cannot comment on Oriental Empires yet. NDA.

I wasn't talking about
that Sengoku...but the one from Paradox. ;)
I'll get the new Sengoku game as soon as it's released. O0

Ahhh... :-[
I have Paradox' Sengoku, essentially a CK2 lite. It's a lot of fun. :)
It's been out a while now, so you should be able to pick it up in a sale.
might be my favorite Prince song
I'm finding that my weekend play schedule is increasingly dictated by whatever gets updated on steam.
Had the RPG itch come over me yesterday. Had Two Worlds 2 in my Steam library forever but had never played it. Started up a game and am enjoying it for what it is. Not the best RPG but still fun.
Still more VASSAL work.
Got the head for my Miata back from refurbishing so need to get to work on reinstalling that.
Discovered Vox Populis mod for CiV thanks to a Red Argo on this forum. WOW what a difference.... MD might even like it...
More PBEM with Jason, both DC3 and Twilight Struggle.
And spring has finally reached the Great White North so I've got to get started on the lawn and patio.
Going to start Anno 1404 Venice (aka Dawn of Discovery). Hoping to be able to wrap my brain around it better than I did with Grand Ages-Medieval. Maybe some Pillars of Eternity too.
More Twilight Struggle vs Bart, and more struggling against the twilight vs Bart in DC3: Bartharolla. {insert smiley of German Baneblade crushing hapless Russians on foot and out of ammo here}
Might try getting back into Company of Heroes: I've never really been good at the mp, despite loving and being somewhat competent at Dawn of War (on which engine it's based, though granted the gameplay can be rather different). Relatedly, there's a good chance I'll be playing some Dawn of War: Soulstorm, mp and/or the Eldar campaign.
Also relatedly, there's a chance I'll be playing more of the 40K: Gothic Fleet campaign. As much as I love that game in theory, I'm having a hard time getting into the gameplay in practice. I can't put my finger on why.
Speaking of a game and gameplay I theoretically love but have a hard time getting into: re-started the Grand Ages: Medieval campaign after a few months off. I'm sorry to say I have never even gotten to the point where the campaign gets brutally hard yet! :-[
The nieces might show up tomorrow, in which case Nicemus Prime will likely play some 7 Grand Steps, Hero of the Kingdom, A Day in the Woods,4 Elements 2, and/or a few other things. Theoretically I might get her, Microniece, and the Bro, into the computer version of Kings of Israel (which I gave the board game version to Bro at Christmas, but I don't think he's even tried to play it with the girls yet).
Last, and no doubt least, I've been plinging along at the Qinghai campaign for Victoria 2, using my patented gameplay-learning method of picking a nation near-or-at dead last in the list to work with so I can slowly get introduced to gameplay as the nation grows.
Thanks to a day of yesterday I got a real good start on my weekend gaming. Got in PS, SotS2 and HotS.
Looking to continue the trend and maybe add in some Stardew valley, DW:U and Age of Discovery nee Anno 1404
Oh and you officially suck JD, as I have to wait a week for Civil War

Still more VASSAL work.
I'm (as ever) working over events in France in 1944 -- mostly with Panzer Battles -- mostly with Bluecoat, where now the 2nd Household Cavalry is getting set to go put its 17 pdrs on some intersections. In reality, the 17 pdrs sited at intersections came up with intelligence by ambush and in the case of Bluecoat gave the first indications that an SS Corps was shifting west to block them by knocking out some armored cars of a type that apparently only the SS used.
I've been playing a lot of Endless Legend recently, so will probably do some of that. I also have some saved CM2 scenarios/campaigns to finish off.
Multi player, I've got some outstanding Field of Glory, and PzC: Sicily with Panzerde and Cyrano, and a Squad Battles: Gallipoli campaign outstanding with Cyrano. All good stuff! O0
Will be playing Caves of Qud and UnReal World, dying has never been so fun. Also continuing my Xenonauts campaign with mods.
I also have a campaign with EUIV with possibility of DOM4 or COE4.
A little prep-work for my Legions to finish off the Gallic tribes and stop the Falling Sky.
PE
Like Boggit, I found my self playing Endless Legends again. Also started up a CK2 game as the Duke of Anjou in 1136...no reason. Someone started watching Game of Thrones again.
I'm still finding it hard to drop Graviteam Mius front. It's just such an awesome game I always go back.
Been trying all week to get Mc Clellan to activate in Civil War 2. I give him a big-ass army and he just sits there in front of Charlottesville, Va. stared-down by a few thousand Confederates. He won't move so, it's time to RE-move him. I'm putting Gen. Whipple in charge. With a name like that, he's probably been fighting his whole life so maybe he'll do something. Also started the Russian Campaign in CMRT just because I want to end the month with getting my ass kicked so I'll start May.... humble. ::)

How is ACW 2 now? When we parted ways, Athena was doing nothing with her Ginormous army of the Potomac and Army of Ohio while I ran roughshod over Virginia and Tennessee. So we switched sides and Athena sent -the quite willing I'm sure- General Jackson on a foray north of Pittsburg with a division. After he starved, Athena sent a few more Division and Corp sized raids to the Great Lakes while my army moved over Virginia like syrup over pancakes.
I am an AGEOD fan but was less than impressed. I'm convinced the engine is only really good in conflicts with no traditional lines. (Best games are Rise of Prussia, Wars in America, Roman stuff and Russian civil war). I'm a big ACW fan so would love to have it work right.

I agree. Athena does a very strange job in ACW2. I took Richmond and most of Virginia in early 1862 while Athena sent lots of Southern armies off to die in the wilds of Pennsylvania. But as you say, in other contexts, she does well.
Was it any better in ACW1, or has it gotten worse?

Caves Of Qud is a superb roguelike. I just wish it had a better looking graphical tile set.
I tried UnReal World a few years ago. The UI was fairly straightforward, as far as classic style roguelikes go, but it seemed like I needed to learn an assload of info from it's game wikis up front, to have much chance of lasting long.
More
World Of Warships with the Grogs this weekend, for me.
I can't compare ACW 1 to ACW 2 as I never played 1. The AI in 2 has some problems handling things like Partisans, which it seems to just ignore and the Event where you spend Vic. points to raise militia in areas pro-Union-- it seems to scare the crap out of the AI and they'll often run back south to get away from them. It also kind of gives up on defending Richmond at times. So I don't push-it too much here to take advantage. But it does seem to react well to your moves and has hammered my armies when they're isolated. It loves to send cavalry raiding deep behind your lines and I've been surprised at how competently it plays the naval part of the game, using Raiders and Blockade Runners to earn income and harassing my shipping. Overall it's quite a challenge-- for me anyway-- and a lot of fun. This is my first AGEOD game so I'm still a little unfamiliar with the system but the game certainly gives you lots of things take into consideration during a move/turn and I love the attention to detail in the game.

Have you tried Dungeons of Dredmor? That's quite fun and the graphics, while basic, are not too dire.

Well for me, the problems are the same. In ACW2 I had a game where I wasn't sure if I had mistakenly turned off the AI in options. The Union army did nothing while I ran up into Maryland and Pennsylvania. Out west I was in Wisconsin before I quit in 1862. In both 1 and 2 I had problems of AI confederate sending divisions up into the north by themselves. Like Stonewall, 3 inf brigades and horse artillery....creeping around Pittsburgh...completely unsupplied. So to me, the same problems exist in both. The AI has trouble conducting coordinated attacks. It can handle one stack, but not effectively fight 3 stacks that are linked as Corp in an army. This is also why the games with no real battle lines fare better. AJE is great because there are only single stacks...same with WiA. My 2 cents
Played a bit of twilight struggle. But I forgot how much I hate card games and I got a refund.
Might get decisive campaigns barbarossa. Will be making a new character in l33t souls.
With more than a week to go to Stellaris I am absolutely itching for something to play, so I finally cracked and bought Master of Orion - just like I said I wouldn't! Looking forward to giving it a proper go this weekend though. It's a three day weekend for we Brits too. 8)

Do you still play Dominions 4?
I don't actively play it at the moment, but I certainly haven't consigned it to the "will never play again" category. I love it, despite being comically bad at it. :)
Played a couple of hours worth of Anno 1404 and it is easier for me to wrap my brain around than Grand Ages - Medieval. One question for those who have played - I toggled off the view of the commodities my city was producing - how do I get that view back? Anyone remember/know?
CMFI pbem.
After buying some plane modifications for Rise of Flight, I just started my career with the Belgian air service using the excellent Pat Wilson Campaign Generator. First mission is to drop a spy behind enemy lines. I have to do some practice flying with the FE 2b first before I try this mission.
Spent a few hours trying to get multiplayer Factorio going Saturday, and after succeeding played maybe an hour-and-a-half. I like it as much as Fortresscraft (as expected) -- they fill somewhat different niches despite the extremely similar topics.
As expected I played a few rounds of Twilight Struggle with Bart (and updated my side of the AARs). Also as expected, I played several missions of the first campaign in Company of Heroes and was forcibly reminded why I've had trouble getting into that game: every mission is brutally epic, and sometimes there are scripted cheats against me (e.g. a scripted arty barrage that will continue killing my units until I retreat far enough, despite my successful defense of an area).
Also as expected, finally got into the Grand Ages: Medieval campaign, and having been a veteran of the system since waaaaayyyy back in the days of Sid Meir's Pirates (the original one for the C64 era), I think I have a bit of an advantage on what's expected in gameplay. :coolsmiley: So I'm up to the point where I'm supposed to build my first merc unit, but since there's no timer really (that cute Empress is going to be an old hag, or revealed to be a saucy witch, by the time she arrives in Bulgaria! ::) ) I'm making sure I have enough of an infrastructure to support them first.
Somewhat unexpectedly, I also got through about 1/3 of the first game in the Sands of Time quadrilogy: I play through it every two or three years, and felt like starting it again this weekend. Not sure I'm feeling enough of the love to continue much farther yet, although obviously I do love the series. :smitten:
Oh, and I bought a copy of Combat Mission: Beyond Overlord from GoG to help support the hoped-for eventual port of Barbie to Berlin and Afrika Korps to GoG.
I had plans to play DC:Barbarossa this weekend, to migrate to the steam version, but ended up just playing Dark Souls 3 all weekend instead.
Turns out the temporary roadblock I ran into trying to beat the Abyss Watchers bosses made me retry a bunch of times until I figured out how to beat them, but the side benefit is all the souls I got each attempt kept me leveling up every couple of tries, and my higher level character as a result has made the DS3 play much easier since that boss.
Got my fill of economic/trading games over the last 2-3 weeks and have finally started Pillars of Eternity...took me about an hour to roll my new character and begin the story. Behold Gus the Dward Cipher.
(https://www.grogheads.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimages.akamai.steamusercontent.com%2Fugc%2F492393387374614332%2FB14D5301BAD78EEB0957A06A27900F4A1C813886%2F&hash=add775bef021a80a6da247a901dc2c84943f1c29)
Very impressive! How'd you get all those double-digit stats? Does that what 'Cipher' means-- you just 'Cipher' in whatever stats you want? ;D
I think it means as I progress I get to eat people's minds. Oh and I get a Soul Whip.
At Level 5 do you get some Soul 'Cuffs to go along with? ;D I've found the Druid class to be very powerful in this game. They get some great Nature-based spells, offense and buffs, and they can Shape-Shift into one of several different Killing Machines like a bear or lion as well as just plain fighting with melee or missile weapons. They've got something for any occasion.

Oh yes. It is my most played game on Steam, according to their count, at around 230 hours. :) Of course, I've had the listed "time played" for some Steam games screw up & reset to zero before so one of the Total Wars may be close to that also.
Actually beat Dredmor once. But I think it was due to some bug, in that specific version, where some of the player-cast DoTs would never end on him.
I almost took a druid in PoE...a lot of interesting classes.
Jason I haven't eaten anyone's mind here in at least a few months.
