Between Stellaris, HoI 4, and Battle Academy 2 (picked up earlier in the week in the Bundlestars sale) I have more than enough to play at the moment, which seems to dull any impulse buying.  Nothing on my wishlist is calling out to me, even on sale, with the possibility of Clockwork Empires, and even at that I'm still tempted to hold off.

Do yourself a favor, and be sure to check out the Kursk Addon. It adds a two outstanding campaigns with force pools that carry over between missions.

I have no idea why Slitherine nixed this game. Far better than Order of Battle.

Well...being a bit "off," due to a very late return to the homestead after a brief vacation to NY and MI (Henry Ford museum is awesome, btw) and perhaps a wee bit too much beer, I think I'm only on the hook for H1Z1 - Survive and the Arma megamix from Bohemia's site.  I'll honestly have to check my emails for purchase confirmations.

So far I've picked up:

Pike and Shot: Campaigns
Man-o-war: Corsair (not really on Steam sale tho)
Wh40: Deathwatch
...I can't recall the title of the 4th one, it's only $10, nice looking little title where your character goes around building up a pre-steampunk wooden giant robot. Colossus? (I'd just look it up but Steam is so hammered it won't load this morning at all.)

I've thought very seriously about several other games, including To End All Wars while it's 50% off, but haven't pulled the trigger yet. At just over $60 on the tally so far, and with massive games I've never even touched that I want to play, I may be able to end the damage here.  >:D

Twilight Struggle              $8.99
Pike & Shot: Campaigns  $19.99
OOTP 17                          $19.99

Personally, I was hoping these games would be on the summer sale list, and it looks like my hopes and dreams came true. Too good of a sales price to pass them up.

I'm also hoping Sengoku Jidai: Shadow of the Shogun also gets added to the summer sale.

Last few months I've gotten into Space Sci-Fi games: I already have Star citizen and Elite D. As of yesterday I've really gone nuts, here's my personal damage list:

House of the Dying Sun
Nexus: The Jupiter Incident
Rebel Galaxy
The Battle of Sol
Strike Suit Zero: Director's Cut
Evochron: Legacy
X3: Terran War pack

Also an additional purchase of another genre: Versus: Battle of the Gladiator. Oh, and a few days ago I bought the SOWWL Quatre Bras add-on from the Matrix Games site as my copy of the game is non-steam. Had to save that $2 off for the introductory price! At least that is what I tell myself for justification!

I hope I'm done for now, but I'm still looking at stuff on Steam. I think I'll end this as I'm starting to feel a little mentally ill. Must be PSSRS (Post Steam Sale Regret Syndrome).

I always get a sense of being underwhelmed at Steam sales - granted - I own everything I want. But I get kind of snobby with some of the games that I "want, dont need" - "Only 25%, no thanks!"

It definitely made it more...interactive.

I find myself having a real hard time pulling the trigger on anything.

Mainly that HOI4 and Heroes of the Storm are still taking up most of my time and the one game I really want (Rimworld) doesn't release on Steam EA until next month.

Nothing for me.....seems like anything that I am remotely interested in I can pick up at any point in the year at one of the discount web sites (just as cheap or cheaper) so no real urgency to purchase during the sale.  Strangely, it disappoints me to not participate in the sales, I remember a couple of years ago going nuts during these things...a real adrenaline rush.

No damage yet.  Still evaluating Atlantic Fleet at $5, Undertale at $7, or possibly Renowned Explorers: International Society at $10.  But, like others, I find the lack of deep discounts on Daily Sales a good reason to buy one or two games, rather than 4 or 5 total games on a sale like this.

I think the deeper discounts on the old daily sales appealed to my, what is the term that dog trainers use, "Prey Drive"?

OK...I have narrowed it down. I have in my cart:

Pillars of Eternity - The White March Expansion Season Pass (White March parts 1&2) - 18.74

Wasteland 2 Director's Cut Classic - 19.99

Flying Tigers - Shadows Over China - 10.71

Total: 49.44

Still browsing...but I think I can limit my damage to the above.

I got my new credit card today (current one expires next week) and did the over-the-phone activation.  I wanted to see if it worked so I bought a cheap-o game on Steam.

I like to make sure that the notes I get out of the ATM are genuine, so I test them in the pub.

Speaking of money and its composition, Barthheart was kind enough to allow me to fondle some of the new bills of our northern neighbors at Origins last weekend.  That is some crazy money y'all got going on there!  Durable as hell, too.

It should be. It's plastic.  :)

Nothing yet. Once my bonus from work hits, either Rise of the Tomb Raider or Doom will be mine.

Let's be honest, I'll buy both of them anyway.  ::)

I literally have not played any of the games I bought during the Xmas sale.  Hell, I haven't even installed them!

There are a few games I'm eyeballing, but honestly, if I don't plan to install it and play it the same day, I'm just holding off for this time around.

Shit's gettin' real, homies.

The missus just bought me a $50 steam card..so the options are near limitless. No purchases yet, but I need a consensus on the following:

Sengoku Jidai - I own Pike and Shot already..is this a significant upgrade?

Bastard Bonds - tactical RPG, getting very good reviews

Age of Gladiators

Sentinels of the Universe - VERY heavily discounted..I can get the entire game, with DLCs, for $18

Elder Signs: Omens

HOI IV

Trackday Manager

Parkitect

Tropico 5 Complete, for $10. I already have the base game, but this adds a very large number of DLC..cheap as hell.

I'm not a fan of oriental warfare, mainly because of my limited knowledge, but I actually prefer SJ over Pike and Shot. Aesthetically it is more pleasing and the addition of generals makes a difference. Worth getting, for sure.

Sweet...I stuck with what I posted earlier:

Pillars of Eternity - The White March Expansion Season Pass (White March parts 1&2) - 18.74

Wasteland 2 Director's Cut Classic - 19.99

Flying Tigers - Shadows Over China - 10.71

Total: 49.44

...installing now.

I got Atlantic Fleet today, really cheap, and really good.
Oh, and there is a tool to help you to decide if the discount rate is worth it, from this website: https://steamdb.info/
search for the game you want to buy, you will see the price history of your currency, some games had much lower discount rate in earlier sale, so maybe if you don't need the game right now, you can wait to go further lower in the next sale.

I haven't purchased anything today but when I tried purchasing some games from Steam the other day, it took several attempts before my purchase went through. I expect Steam is getting hammered due to the sale. I can only suggest you do as I did and keep trying until your order goes through.

There is a notable difference between an i5 CPU rated for 2.66Ghz compared to some old chip, such as a Core 2 Duo 2.66Ghz from ten years ago.

Be advised; the core speeds haven't been directly indicative of performance for awhile now, except between those of the same type/chipset.

I am as such corrected. I guess it's a testament to how well that Intel built those 750's that I will be handing it down to a box I'm building primarily for the wife and kids to use once I'm ready to upgrade to new hotness

No damage yet as that's shocking for me.

But I did buy Rome 2: Total War last night and installed it. Played it for about 70 minutes and just didn't like what the game was like. The atrocious anti-aliasing in Rome2 is just awful and I even tried SweetFX and nVidia Inspector to no avail. The graphics without any sort of decent anti-aliasing was a real turn off to me. So I refunded it. I'm surprised that my aging i7-920 at 4 Ghz with a GTX 970 handled the game very well though with graphics cranked almost right up.

Thinking about getting Attila now as CA added anti-aliasing options that Rome 2 lacks.

but I'm not sure what Fallout 3 to get. Either Fallout 3 or New Vegas.

Otherwise I am thinking on grabbing DLC for Skyrim because of the new massive update coming.

Bit the bullet and picked up Doom. So far, very happy with the purchase. I like that exploring and finding secrets, as well as pulling off the zany objectives (kill 2 with one shotgun blast, use 5 different finishing animations, etc.) earn you weapon upgrade points. Just cranks up the mayhem, and Doom is all about mayhem.

I picked it up only because it's from the same guys who made project reality and it's rarely going to be on sale. If they work on squad for a fraction of the length of time they worked on PR, it will eventually be a very deep game with tons of maps, units, vehicles, etc.

I got it during the sale, played it for an hour, everything seems to working fine for me from a technical point of view, but the most important thing that I like was the community, everyone is polite and they instruct you clearly, no shouting or insulting like other multiplayer games (well so far).

Decided to keep Attila and just bought all of its DLC too. It's a good game.

What I left in the wishlist due to non convincing price or no time to play for now:
Steel Armor

Civil War 2
Twilight Struggle

Hope I will get them next sale.

Rome 2 has the widest variety of troop types & factions of the whole TW series.

While I hate jaggies, I never really noticed under-performing AA in Rome 2.  The troop scale became so small, with this new TW engine that came after Medieval 2, I hardly notice. Because I can't make out the finer details unless I zoom almost all the way in.  At that point, they look fine but I tend to play the battles zoomed out so *shrug*.

So I did go ahead and buy Rome 2 and all of its DLC. That and Attila and all of its DLC is my final total.

Many thanks to those who replied with their advice on both games.

I'm a little surprised at the TW: Rome 2 hate.  TW always delivers.  Are the graphics in Rome 2 that bad?  I mean, I never even noticed...I still play M2TW.

I'm not saying you all are wrong, but the game looked pretty spectacular to me.  I'm just not seeing the problems...the graphics are pretty good, for what the game is all about for sure...y'all lost me I guess.

After debating about my Fallout/TES options I decided to fold for now. So went to my GOG library and downloaded Fallout 1.

But I wanted Mount and Blade : Warband for a long time and I decided to grab it. I had so much fun with that game. Plus the mods are more easily accessible.

Plus CK II: Charlemagne and the two DLCs for Early Clothing and Coat of Arms.

Total 10.79

Nothing....! I was determined to stay with my WitP:AE, ACW2, Stellaris and HoI4 campaigns. But the Labor Day/End of Summer and end of year Holiday sales may be a different story.

Picked up HoI4, Stellaris and The Last Leviathan.  Ended up having to return The Last Leviathan because it made my CPU/GPU run hot, which was a bit surprising since even my old rig was above the min specs, but then again, it is an EA release.  May check it out again down the road...

p.s.  interesting.  My Steam refund went from 7 days pending to back into my Steam wallet as soon as the sale was over.

Just Pike & Shot Campaigns for me. Most everything else that looked enticing discount-wise I picked up during the Winter Sale. Was really determined *not* to buy anything I didn't intend to play soon.

Pike and Shot Campaigns
Order of Battle WWII and the first two DLCs.
Steamworld Heist due to hype on a couple forums
Dangerous Waters, just re-read Red Storm Rising.
X-Com UFO Defense cause I read about some Pirate mod for it.

Looked hard at several others but talked myself down. Helped to wait till the last couple hours of the sale so I couldn't go back and buy more.

lol -- i did the exact same thing!  My wishlist has become the "upcoming games i'm interested in / games i will consider buying if they go on sale" repository. If a game's on my list when a sale starts, and still on when a sale ends -- looking at you, Offworld Trading Company -- then I have to sadly conclude that I'm not really into said game after all...

Well, this was a bit of a punt for me also, but I liked the idea of an economic battle for a change of pace.  Only done the tutorials so far, and it seems that it might turn out to essentially be a clicky-clicky RTS but we'll see...

Unlike previous years, I do have to say that I've gotten more mileage out of the games that I bought so far as opposed to stuff I've purchased in the past that are still sitting in the "to be downloaded / played more than 1 hour," pile, so I guess I'm getting better at selecting things I'll actually do something with.

You used to be able to claim you played a game even if you didn't. But now Steam keeps-up with everything we do so they can, at any time, refute our claims to Gaming Stardom. Damned Big Brother.

Interesting figure if accurate.

"Steam Spy have analysed the number of sales during this wonderful period, breaking down the bestselling games and how much money Valve made from their summer sale. The numbers can be off slightly, but if these are indeed accurate then it looks like Valve made $236 million."
