Next in Hof's hipster library of music, we have French post metal. The french do the best metal out there, I love the singer here, Audrey Sylvain, she also sings in Peste Noire. Deathspell Omega, Alcest, peste noire, blut aus nord, baise ma hache, celeste. Endless list.
For gaming this weekend, probably going to shell out for RE7, because I do love being a sadist to myself. Got SWAT 4, its endlessly fun to tell your team members to pepper spray and throw stinger grenades at civilians.
I'm no stranger to (death) metal but this is a bit to much 'post' for me ...
(why has this the same effect on me as free jazz ? : makes me go :crazy2: :pullhair:)
Probably Elite Dangerous for me this weekend (and some Slayer/Nightwish to calm down again :)))

MAybe some space gaming in the form of Stellaris. Maybe some heroes and Generals (but now that I'm reasobably good at the game, I'll probably start looking for another FPS and get really bad for a while)...once I start walking down the middle of the roads picking off snipers and shooting parachutists out of the sky...I gotta play another game and get sniped over and over and over. Musically, I will be playing some ancient CDs made long ago when I subscribed to many primitive music things on the interwebs...From somewhere in scena, deus ex machina, good morning Christina...
I may begin learning the MiG-21 in DCS this weekend.
Although I'm in a bit of a gaming funk right now. May end up cranking music while painting minis, or doing some solitaire tabletop stuff, tuning everything else out. :cowboy:
Or maybe I'll feel like shooting at people whilst having a little whiskey (World Of Warships with the usual accomplices).
That mood can pop up at any time. :arr:
Nifty music choice. Always loves ze metal.
At any rate, I'm looking at a tear-down of the final two pieces of a set of furniture for a complete overhaul so that's the bulk of my weekend gone.
Otherwise, I've been grooving on Insurgency with both the Born to Kill Vietnam mod and the standalone version of Day of Infamy. There is talk of a Rise of Flight interest with my gaming group, so time to haul the joystick back out and get whacked that way.
-I wish the newer WW2 shooters would get away from "Day of..." as their title as it get confusing, but that's just me-
Have fun, gents, and party on!
25 hours in to Metal Gear Solid V and then only 8 percent complete...I must really suck at this.
Once I hit 10% I am thinking of Door Kickers, SWAT 4 and Alien Isolation.
Resident Evil 7 also caught my eye - reviews are solid.
DCS Viggen
Empyrion - Galactic Survival (new obsession)
Star Wars: Empire At War with a juicy mod or two
i may also attempt to get Jane's F/A-18 Super Hornet with THS 4.02 up and running. May prove futile on a win 10 machine... :pullhair:
Will be restarting my endless space 2 campaign after a bug or 2 popped up - early access problems - the happiness or should I say unhappiness goes haywire if you're a dictatorship and enough senate members aren't represented in parliament - hot fix came out last night
And long war 2 - just fine tuning the base building and then I'll start properly
Still plugging-away at the Abbey of the Fallen Moon in PoE's White March. Damn these Abbey-Enemies are a Bitch to beat even after revamping my tactics, equipment, and party. And they've learned a new trick, now they call to each other for help. So you start fighting a few and before you know it, there's a whole Kardashian-Load of them coming at you. YIKES!!!! :hide: Have a good weekend Grogs.
I might have stumbled, half-unintentionally, into an early win against ArizonaTank in our Fire in the Lakes team game. Hopefully he'll get around to seeing if he can deflect it in time.
Long War 2 continues no doubt. Also, I finally installed LW1 on my Surface (so that my main computer can still do EU multiplayer matches if that ever comes up).
Plinking along on Mechwarrior Online, trying to figure out why I have made no forward progress past 66% toward Tier 4 since my first 25 cadet-bonus missions. Haven't spent actual money on the game yet.
Some friends of mine keep bouncing around various FTP games -- recently picked up Heroes of the Storm so likely will be doing a little of that.
Asid and I played a nice little co-op game of Scourge of War: Waterloo the other night, and I should be getting into that more soon.
...oh, right, I was supposed to be helping prep a Christmas 2016 Groghead forum co-op game of Dominions 4! Note to self, finish setting that up before Easter...

Hit me up on HOTS if you wish; ID is the same here. I'm by no means an expert but always looking for friendlies to team up with.
And looking forward to the start (restart) of the Dom 4 game O0
I'm just thankful I finally finished drizzling out the end of the dwarven LOTRBFME2ROTWK campaign. ;)
Hof's recent video post of a Command Ops game motivated me to get back into that excellent game this weekend. I enjoy Hof's video posts but his music choices leave me feeling like a nine-inch spike was hammered into my brain. ^-^
NINE INCH SPIKE would be the name of my new death-post post-death alterna-metal prog band. It would be like "Nine Inch Nails" but different.
Kidding aside, yeah his ComOps2 video makes me wonder if the system has bottom-up flexibility as well as top-down. In other words, we can hand off as much micro to the AI as we want while we concentrate on as broad of the macro strokes as we want. But can we do something like Take Command/Scourge of War where we assign ourselves a platoon command (or something similarly small) and just work on following AI orders while our allied AI takes care of, not only the other micro, but also all the macro levels above our command?
I ask because that seems like it would be the most effective way to learn the system. Rather like, y'know, how officers actually go up in the ranks. ;)
Not going to be a whole lot of gaming for me. Working tomorrow, then watching the super bowl Sunday. What little time I have will be devoted to Elite and CMANO.
I'll try and talk Nef into some IL2 instead of Dcs. But if that fails there is always World of warships. Except I will be drinking wine instead of whiskey.
Week I've had whiskey and WoWS sounds like a nice wind down.
Scotch and Rise of Flight!
Apple Jim Beam and RoF
Wings over Flanders Fields: Ultimate Edition. My transfer request from RFC's 16th Squadron to the 6th Squadron has been denied and I must continue to fly the BE2c instead of the FE2b.
The Golf Club. Participating in a TGC Tours tournament.
World War One Gold.
No gaming for me this weekend, as I'm off to the woods of northern Wisconsin in another hour or so. See you all on Monday!

^This was always my impression too and I was shocked to come across threads on simhq with people claiming its the worst DCS module ever made. Some people are so God damn crazy...
Sovereignty: Crown of Kings, Polaris Sector (still!) and Stars in Shadow make up my weekend dance card.

ROFL at that chorus! :DD :DD \m/
(Language warning, so crank it up if you're at the office.)
I'll continue playing mods this weekend. Total War Attila Medieval Kingdoms Mod, the last update added medieval buildings and castles. COH1 mod Europe at War which is without a doubt the best mod I've ever played for the game. Will continue playing the Ramelle Bridge defense map based on Saving Private Ryan with the US Airborne troops. Then I'll go back to the COH1 Great War Mod and finish my Hawthorne Ridge battle. Some of these modders are doing truly amazing work.

Probably a great time to start doing MP in it right now, too. Because of der Viggen hype. Since they only carry heaters, there should be less long range Spamraams and ERs to dodge if more people are flying Saabs.
Although the Cold War server is Heaters At Noon all day long for air-to-air (70s-80s era). And 16thACG East is limited to Sparrows & non-extended range SARHs (effectively late 80s era). 8)
Now waiting to see if Az agrees with the win math in the Fire in the Grogs game...

I went back to

For me, I'm finally starting up Stellaris. Very early on, but so far, it's delicious!

Meanwhile, I played my first "divisional" command ever in the TC/SOW system this afternoon, teamed up with Asid as the French tried to conquer a fortified town somewhere in Prussia (maybe near where we're fighting in the forum kriegspiel run by Cyrano...?) I reaaaalllly can't figure out how a corps (much less an army) commander could get anything done in this game, not from AI underlings. But I endeavored to persevere, rarely ordering battalions around myself, mainly plotting my div's route to the battlezone, and then where and how we entered it, with some broad-stroke placement and advancement for my two brigadiers. (My arty got into the battle so hard I basically lost control of them, and also physically lost track of where they were. The game could benefit from at least giving me proper clues where to look when my head is in the saddle: in real life I could ask any of fifteen people nearby "Where the French-equivalent-of-deuce are my arty!!?" and at least build up an impression of an answer from pointing responses!)
Alas, we lost the fight, badly -- I'm not sure we ever even got near the city. The AI defended in depth, deployed in our direction. I was able to give almost as good as I got (about 980 casualties to 1100 taken), for a slightly negative score, but considering that I smashed a Netherland division (or two?) into hollandaise, and pressed them far away from their allies, while keeping my division alive and in good fighting shape, I'm willing to call my first div command a win. I was preparing to route a British force when the clock ran out a little faster than the Yanks were already withdrawing before I arrived! But my infantry div had randomly spawned about as far as possible from where the fighting would be, and I needed a good hour or more to even get where I could try to help him -- and he was chewed up meanwhile. :'(
Got to 10% complete in MGS V [after 25+ hours!] so it is time for a switch. Going to start Wasteland 2 - Director's Cut! Psyched.
Will also go back to Mad Max for a little bit too. Love that game...it's great for [legally, safely] getting out the road rage.
This weekend was our Annual Guyz Weekend, I was hosting. My wife left Thursday morning and the guys started showing up Thursday night, and they all just left.. These are all friends I've been gaming with since high school.
Played many games of my new copy of Plague Inc.: The board Game. Yes it's base off the mobile app, which became a PC game as well. Great fun. Short rules, very well written, very tight. Easy to play but huge amount of depth and many ways to win. We played this 4 times with different winners each time through. Still haven't figured out a sure way to win.
Also played Conquest of the Empire II (all day Friday), Car Wars Card game, and Frag!
Huge amount of beer and food consumed.
Now to clean up and prep for my trip our west tomorrow.
I didn't know they made a second version of Conquest of the Empire. Bring it to Origins and see if we can talk a few people into it ;)
So I played Wasteland 2 for about two hours and then Underrail for about an hour and a half - I think I had more fun playing Underrail. I put Wasteland 2 away for the moment.
I was pretty much housebound from the snow. Played a few rounds of Labyrinth: The War on Terror with Barth. Painted up 12 monk miniatures that I'm going to use to replace the wooden markers for the Ora & Labora board game. Played some Warfighter: WWII as the Brits. Completed 4 missions in the campaign before failing on the 5th one. Played a bit of TW: Warhammer. Gotta install some speed reduction and morale boost mods. It's too twitchy for my tastes currently. On Thursday, I installed some little game that I got from the HumbleBundle XCOM2 pack called Steamworld: Heist and I've already dumped way too many hours into it. Lots of fun!
^Tell us more about Steamworld.
Think I will be playing Mad Max in tandem with MGSV. Although I had some frustration with MGSV (like the autosave feature instead of saving anywhere) it's hard to switch from open world games like those to isometric games like Wasteland and even more throw back types of games like Underrail.
For me, anyway. Plus even after just one day away from MGSV I began to miss it!
Spent all afternoon until a few minutes ago beating Titanfall 2 from the beginning. So... a little over seven hours? Well, for a game that's mainly mp, that isn't bad, and besides it's a good cinematic production. Satisfied with the experience, but time to uninstall and do something else.
Gus: I sensed a distinct lack of Alien: Isolation in that list... :P
Alien Isolation is next once I get modern combat and aocalyptic games out of my system...so a couple of weeks. If I am still came cognizant after that, it will be Battlefleet Gothic: Armada 😎

The board is absolutely massive.
Which can be good or bad depending on how much room you have available.
That explains the, "Played all day," that he was talking about. ;)
It also has a second rule set option featuring some senatorial voting mechanic. I've not tried that version yet.
I picked up used versions of this Eagle Games version of CotE, along with a used version of War! Age Of Imperalism, a few years ago on a retro area control game tear.
An example of the massive board (those are full-sized cards, for reference) ~~~>

That's the version I have. I got it in a swap about 5 years ago and we've only managed to play it a couple of times. We've always used the second rules set with the diplomacy, voting and alliances.
It requires a lot more thought and therefore time to play. Lots of tension and hard decisions because you never have enough time nor money to do everything you need to.
You really need 6 players to get the most out of this version of the rules though.

That sucks. I would like to try that version out at some point, but scheduling a 6-player day long game is probably nigh impossible.
I played the original CotE with my cousins back in the 90's. It was a race to see who could buy the most catapults. Would be interested in checking out the second iteration. Not sure if there will be time at Origins. I expect we could certainly round up enough players though ;)

My new table was hit. It was just large enough to spread out CotE properly.
Beer holders were functional... need to make them thermally isolated next. Also need to make the table cover.
I'd happily saw something off gus for a gaming group, man cave and the time to do it
