Well the game has such incredible reviews that I think I will just stick with the full price and reward such an effort, especially considering it to be such a small studio. I'm very interested in the GM mode.

I'm honestly feeling pretty meh about the sale. Not about the sale itself, I'm just glutted for games I haven't gotten thoroughly into yet. I may get The Forest at last and, relatedly, The Long Dark. but even then I've got plenty of survival games I haven't fully delved yet.
I dunno, I've found a few I've been wanting to have. Fallout 4 (14.99), two Telltale games (GotG and Batman, 12.49 and 7.49 respectively), and Car Mechanic Simulator 2018 (13.38). That's all I saw with a quick look; there may be more.

Looking at both of those also. Looking for a new a shiny open world survival game. I bought the Long Dark when it was in early access and refunded it, almost had the feeling of a time management game, constant food, warmth, with little break as i remember. Maybe its changed a bit, not sure. There is always grinding in these type games but it just seemed more constant in The Long Dark. I'll probably pull the trigger on the The Forest.
If your a survival game person here's some i can recommend, there all in various stages of early access but playable with enough content currently.
Empyrion: Galactic Survival
Subnautica- Survival in a mostly water world
7 Days to Die- Zombie survival- after 900+ hours i'm a wee bit burnt out of it, at least until the next big update.
PAMELA- Futuristic survival in a city. not as much content as the others at this time.
Subsistence- kind of a real life survival so to speak, no zombies or monsters, just hunters and dangerous animals. Not as much content as the top 3.
PAMELA and Subsistence haven't been in early access as long as the others. These are all still updated regularly, been a bit for 7 days to die but i read there doing bigger updates then a lot of quick small ones, which is good as you don't have to restart all the time.
That's funny because whenever I type 'dumb-ass' in the Steam search window, it keeps taking me back to my home page. :idiot2: Any ideas?

I also own ARK: Survival Evolved, and am preparing to do a campaign with that and Subnautica in parallel. In fact I tried to start my ARK campaign a few weeks ago already, and ran into a gamekilling bug I've never seen before in several dozen hours of play there already! -- I went up to a rock to see if it was decoration or something I could mine, found it to be decoration, but then also found I couldn't move out of the small depression in front of the rock that I had stepped into. It was only a foot deep or so, a mere ground variation, but it acted like a time-space trap. I tried everything I could think of to get out, but nothing worked. (Some things I could think of I couldn't try because I was at the start of the game and didn't have enough resources yet to attempt 'building' my way out.) I literally had to resign the campaign, or else wait around until I died from exposure or something ate me. :buck2:
I've had more than a little trouble trusting the game enough to start again on that, so I've been giving the team a chance for that bug to go through the stomping cycles.

I love the "Don't Starve " games, picked up shipwrecked a little bit ago, like that one also. I never seem to last a real long time in those games. Play a bit of Don't Starve Together' with my daughter.
Subnautica is in pretty good shape right now, I binged it a short time ago. The pacing seems pretty good, maybe a little too fast progression.

Looks like i'm going to keep the Forest and not refund it. 2 hours isn't really enough time for a survival game, but i like what i see so far. Had to restart already because i thought it auto saved on exit, no you have to have a structure up to save the game. Built a hunters lean to thingy the first night, built a tree house for the second night with rope climbing access. The crafting system is pretty straight forward.Works off a plans system, pick a plan, place and get the required resources to fulfill the plan. The rest of the crafting is the usual combine items stuff. In the hour and half i've played its run fine with no fps drops or bugs that i've noticed so far, i have the settings pretty maxed out. There seems to be a stealth system but haven't tested it yet by hiding from the bad guys. I'm running out of food and water so i will have to go foraging. I've seen deer, rabbits and lizards so far, need to find fresh water and make something to carry it in. You'd think you could be lucky enough to crash on an island with friendly cannibals...."come on over we're having a barbecue" ....no, they have to be A**Holes.

You reminded me of a key point....the steam refund. I am on the fence with a couple, probably no risk giving them a try for a couple of hours....probably will be Syrian Warfare and Friday the 13th (I know not everyone's cup of tea, but they recently added a bot single player mode that entices me---this horror series was my favorite as I grew up).
I have never seen any of the Friday the 13th movies.

I'm kind of digging the Forest so far, about to go hunt some cannibal scum with my spear. They seem to move in groups though, hoping to catch one on there own. The spear has been a one shot kill with the animals so far, no crosshairs, its taking some getting used to. Bagged 2 deer, 3 lizards, and one rabbit with the spear so far....o and a couple of turtles but they ain't exactly fast. Been scouting the cannibal scum's camp testing the stealth, sticking to the shadows has worked so far.
I've also started eyeing Friday the 13th.

Haven't bought Friday the 13th yet, but plan on doing so later tonight if everything goes as planned. From what I understand in bot mode, you will only have the option playing as Jason, not the counselors. picked up conquest of elysium 4. thought about some dlc for ck2 and eu4 but didnt pull the trigger! also picked up the operational art of war IV using my 11 year coupon. 38%off i believe.

Whenifever you start playing the first game (order of dawn), be aware that after you create your character (which has a nice number of preliminary yet simple options by the way), you should be sure to check the "play tutorial" box before starting. The
Kingdoms expansion for M2TW was just a few extra mini-campaigns added to the game.
While they added some extra factions and units, each
Kingdoms mini-campaign was it's own separate campaign and didn't add all that new stuff to the Grand Campaign.
The Stainless Steel mod added some content & factions from those to the Grand Campaign.
I believe it also did some less obvious adjustments such as slowing combat/movement in battles a bit, and other such popular adjustments. Yet it didn't try to make any big crazy changes to the formula, so the gameplay still plays much like vanilla TW.
EDIT:
This is important!
Stainless Steel mod required a minor manual adjustment for the Steam version of M2TW.
At some point the Medieval Total War 2 Steam version had the location of it's .EXE moved to a different part of the install folder structure. IIRC, in order for the Stainless Steel mod to run properly, you'll have to copy & paste an EXE to the proper folder.
I don't recall if it was making a copy of M2TW's exe in the orignal folder, or a matter of moving the mod's exe to same one, but is instructions for using it with the Steam version at the place you'll find the download links and install instructions. It's not a big deal, and easy to do; just have to read about it.

Yeah the only thing I dont like about attilla is that I've never been a fan of playing barbarians, I much prefer to play as organized nationstates.

I've never been a fan of playing a "barbarian" faction either. Give me walled cities and legal codes any day!
Athens is fun, but it's a tough faction to play as. That even applies to them in Rome II's Wrath of Sparta DLC, despite Athens being the single most powerful faction in that campaign: Since the other three playable factions (Sparta, Corinth, & Thebes) are all friendly with each other and gunning for you, Athens is still in a tough spot.
I love playing as barbarians but I always win campaign in Rome, Attila, etc., as more organized nation states. My best campaign ever in Attila was playing as Aksum. So many great units, interesting factions to play and an fascinating area of the world.
I'm a sucker for the eastern empires and Successor States. Pontus is probably my favorite, but Egypt and Parthia are fun too.
I really need to take Carthage out for another spin. I've never done particularly well with them, but they always fascinate me (both from a cultural standpoint, plus their starting strategic position).
I finally made a few purchases. Car Mechanic Simulator 2018 and two Telltale games, Batman and Guardians of the Galaxy.

Its awesome! I've been playing for several months now - it seems much more stable since the official 1.0 launch. I'm not a huge shooter guy, but I just can't stop playing this one. Even more fun with a good group, btw.

Same, for Rome 2.
Had the most fun with Pontus thus far, with the Successor States ranking high too (Egypt, Macedon, maybe Seleucid if willing to deal with the initial diplo mess). I'd also add Armenia to this list of tops, up there with Pontus.
Carthage, too, although their grand campaign start often gets rather painful due to a steady stream of DoWs on you from around the western Med early on, including Rome. However, Carthage has a wide mix of unit types. Which is a big deal when it comes to enjoying playable factions IMO.
Haven't done much other than tinker with Parthia, Baktria, and some of the Black Sea colonies; the factions heavy on cavalry. I'm so wedded to having a fairly solid front line of infantry, and try to avoid having too many mounted units since they require more micro-management. My clickfest skills were never great, and they're only getting worse with age.
...and now I've picked up Witcher 3 for The Boy - that kind of thing ain't my bag.

I played a bit of Telltale's Guardians of the Galaxy earlier today. It's not terribly impressive. I figured the likenesses of the actors would have cost them megabucks so I expected facsimiles and different voices (though Groot and Rocket are of course themselves in look), but it's still somewhat lame. But it's GotG, so I'm going to stick with it.
Batman I've not tried yet but will get to it when I get through GotG. If Prattman recommends it and it sticks to the canon of the legendary genius of Joel Schumacher and his two brilliant Batman movies, well, pfft, I can't wait! :) :)

I did pretty good with our other sorties that night. The Gotha was just a finnicky beast back then. I knew I had lost control, thats why I was saying not to get in. When you start to lose control with the Gotha, it was rare to recover!

I didn't die that time! Mostly because we never did find the enemy. Unless you count that cloud bank Tuna flew into and never came out of as the enemy.
I never did pick up the campaigns. Been getting back into IL-2 lately but just SP for now.

New Wings Wargrounds is what you're looking for and it is one of the few still popular-ish (evening times GMT, mainly weeekends). There is also a concerted effort to populate servers on Thursday nights your time. Again it's usually WG, but they also use "The Cuban Syndicate Connection" - and that server is also popular on Sunday eves GMT. The server was set up by a dedicated, yet laid-back Roffer, who goes by Cuban Coverrunner in-game. On Sundays he puts up missions which often have a bit more to them than the standard MP-fare - well worth checking out.

Rise of Flight is balls difficult (especially in an early plane like the Eindecker), and trying to get a single-player campaign going is almost as difficult.
I realize that could only be helpful in a negative way, but... :-\ RoF about counts as the elite course in WW1 flight. Arguably tougher than reality due to necessary feedback limitations (though without the risk of injury or death, so less tough in that way I guess. ;) )

Was checking out some DLC on sale and still couldn't pull the trigger.
Some of them still seem too pricey for what you get. Bastids be charging $8 or $12 for a DLC even on sale.
All those warnings from 10 to 15 years ago, about milking micro-transactions and DLC, were right.

Quite easy to jump into, fly around, and do well compared to sims featuring more modern aircraft. There's hardly anything you need to worry about other than pointing your shooty things towards the enemy, not stalling, and not going so fast that bits fall off. No prop pitch, no fuel mixture, superchargers, trim, radar, or any of that stuff to worry about. Also, the game supports force feedback joysticks so you can get the sensory inputs letting you know when you're going to slow and in danger of stalling or too fast and in danger of ripping a wing off.

I have no idea why, but I'm simply in a wargaming funk. The last few titles I've picked up (
Stellaris, HoI4, etc.) were greatly anticipated by me, but after an hour or two of playing them, I'm just feeling meh. I was given a "pick your own game" present for Christmas, and nothing I'm seeing gets me more than vaguely aroused.

That 8-bit pixel style the retro lovers seem to gravitate to in indie games these days. Probably less workload for the indie devs doing this stuff in their spare time.

I got Astroneer (not much fun), the Muddy trucks B revision for what used to be Spintires (interesting) and the Mirage 2000C for DCS. Seems to work well once you turn the radar thing on.

3.5 hours of videos! I'd rather pull my teeth out with a pliers. I don't have patience for videos as I read much faster. I also just got HOI4. I found there strategy guide useful. That and playing around with the interface and seeing what happens. Looks like planning your focii is a major factor is success. I also get the feeling that you don't have time to research everything you want.

Jump into: yes easy.
Fly around: in a straight line with slightly rising of flight ;) , sure.
Pointing your shooty things toward the enemy = death.
Not stalling: hard during any but the gentlest maneuver.
Pointing your shooting things toward the enemy without stalling = death.
Not going so fast that the bits fall off = death.
Force feedback joysticks are quite necessary, but I don't recall mine giving me enough alert. But it might have been turned off; I've slept several hundred times since then.
Admittedly, this is my eindecker experience, so no doubt later airframes are easier about all that than a wing-warper.
Fuel-mixture: technically needed on the eindecker, along with radiator management, but one can play without them, too. Naturally other portions are missing, of course. I
did qualify this as being difficult for
World War One flight, not as being difficult compared to B-2 flight. ::)
I should add that the flight model can be turned down a lot, maybe to the point where it's a fancy looking
Red Baron 1 game. I jumped in at the very deep end, just because real pilots would have to do that.
Just jumped into a quick mission at full real and took an Eindekker up against 4 veteran DH2s (head-on, 1000m alt, clear, light winds and turbulence). Haven't touched the game in over a year but I was able to knock down 3 and damage the 4th before running out of ammo. I'm no great pilot (my online stats will loudly attest) so if I can do it, anyone can. Just don't be ham-fisted on the stick!

Now I have to win big cuz I already spent all my victory points just being a nice guy.
Bought 'Rise of the Tomb Raider' for my partner and 'The Flame in the Flood' and that's one tough survival game to beat.

I thought so, too. I'd not seen it for less than $150 through Amazon, but that's third-party sellers jacking up the price, as they are wont to do.
I first saw it at one game store a good distance from me as I sold them some X-Wing Minis stuff a few weeks before Christmas. They were asking $75 or so for it, which I thought was a fantastic price considering the ridiculous sums I've seen it for. I decided to keep that in mind.
I went to another game store much closer to me, to pick up a copy of Fallout, as they were selling it very cheap ($47, which is a steal considering online it was around $90-100 at the time) and to use my X-Wing cash to get it. I just happened to glance around the shelves and imagine my surprise when I saw they had a copy of M&M
and were selling it for $53. No brainer, though with Fallout it was pretty much easy come easy go as they say (TOO easy in board gaming).
Not sure if it's out of print, though. This copy was brand new and in shrink.
Thought I might actually get through unscathed... but just caved in before the sale expired... as was probably inevitable ...

Nada on Steam. Problem is DLC. I know I should get some for EU IV and CK II but I haven't played them (EU IV I barely even dived into) .
I think I might get Fields of Glory II though on Matrix anyway.
Plus GOG and Gamersgate has something too.

If you like the way combat is handled in CK2, you should be comfortable with EUIV. There are some neat features, too. Been too long since I spent any time with it, but, I have around 100 hours in and I enjoyed all of it.
Ended up with Civ VI Deluxe.
Looked at They are Billions, Factorio and Total Warhammer but managed to remain calm.

Just played my first few rounds. I find the concept quite nightmarish - the purist in me wants to play FPP, so I'm always convinced someone is sneaking up on me, and also knowing at some point I'll have to stop camping - but it is nervy fun. Also both my boys play, so we can team up - which seems the best way to play.
I had a match in PUBG that had my squad mates rolling.
I was having issues on the sky dive and ended up way short of town, so I got there late and my squad was already eliminated. All I had was a pistol, shotgun and a smoke and was in a larger garage type building. Manage to win a knife fight and knock out an OP, in the course of trying to get the kill I accidentally lit off my smoke while his squad mate was coming by to revive him / kill me. What occurred was probably a 2 minute Benny Hill / Keystone cops episode of me running around be chased trying to reload my shotgun while he obviously can't see crap to shoot me...I manage to hit him and pistol kill both downed OP's...then someone walks by a window, sees me looting and double-taps me in the back of the head.
We were laughing for at least 10 minutes...
