Might as well call it the weekend thread - we always talk about what we're playing at the weekend and not just Friday!
This weekend I will be mostly watching rugby. But what gaming I do get in will be X3 Albion Prelude, some Far Cry 3, making my Academy 1:35 Challenger II model and (if time permits) learning my World at War Blood and Bridges game - which I still haven't tackled yet!
I've got a lot of work to do the next few weekends, but, if anything gets played, it will be Warlock with bob. Anything else is just gravy ;)
I'd like to do the SIMHQ Iron Front Session (Early one Saturday), but a Major Snow Storm coming, so I may be shoveling.. But other than that, I know since we we ain't going anywhere, there will be lots of gaming time!!! lol. .unless we lose power of course..
And who would wish losing power on anyone into a gaming weekend?? ;)
Leaving on a business trip so it's going to be netbook time again...these are the games i plan to play mostly during the next 3 weeks:

JD you should join the Iron Front game sometime, it's a good size crowd from UK.. I played the last couple weekends and it's good people and good games.. SDR turned me on to it. If you don't have IF, grab it when it's on sale.. They also play Arma 2 on Sunday (I've yet to join that one - could get in trouble with the wifey if I do too much gaming during the day - I do my share, but don't want to push it, since she's good about it)..

It's Shoot and Scoot Weekend (http://worldoftanks.com/news/2014-shoot-and-scoot-weekend/) at World of Tanks, so I'll be investing a few hours there this weekend.
Your guess is practically as good as mine regarding what else I'll be playing. Most likely a strategy game of some time. Quite possibly one of my favorite vintage games. The only thing definite is that it will be played on my PC desktop.
Looking at playing some Skyrim, Cities XL Platnium, and Silent Hunter 5.
I'll be breaking out Wrath of Ashardalon and reading through the rules for Lords of the Rings Card Game.

Yeah - I've got Iron Front. Totally pissed off with it and dropped it until I heard from JH and others about making your own scenarios through a website (name escapes me at the mo) so had been messing with that - bt I got sidetracked from that
I had also said I'd join the ArmA2 mod on Sundays - but can't seem to find my copy of ArmA2...I'm sure I bought it so I was determined to look for that before joining - then the rugby kicked off at the weekends and I'm not really in any state to play games after drinking and watching the rugby for 6 hours.
So I dropped the whole idea until the rugby has stopped - but am definitely looking to get into it (Arma2 and IF) towards the end of March when the 6 Nations finishes.
One thing that killed multiplayer for me for ALOT of games was "you need mod X, mod 3 and mod T with F, P and Q installed"...totally ruined multiplayer for me. That was quite some time ago and was mainly prevalent in simming. That and bunny hopping, headshot, autoaim, ADS players

So far, they've been playing stock IF.. both the original game and the Normand DLC.. no mods.. maps/missions download when the game starts... Co-op mostly. some PvP.. but good group of people a pleasure to play with (not screaming kids)!

It's OK. The biggest issue, which has been raised just about everywhere, is there is no A.I. opposition other than scripted events in the campaign. So what you have is a ridiculously easy strategic layer where the only hinderance to progress is cash flow (I literally fell asleep during one mission where I had to acquire $5000 in clean money, and once I had my businesses set up it was just a matter of watching the screen) coupled with good, if flawed, turn-based combat.
I would wait for a sale and pick it up for $20 or less, if I were you.

Apparently Rome II won't be out until around October, but the hilarious hype for it is driving me to play Shogun2 in happy anticipation of
Rome II (which should be an amazing game).
Meanwhile, I'm playing a lot of older games on my eventually-to-be-replaced machine (yes, new computer for Rome II and Arma 3 and whatever else is coming at the end of 2013) -- for example IL2 4.11.1m.
CMBN and CMFI where I manage to get my ass handed to me on both sides of the continent. And some Skyrim to go out and kill-the-hell out of something after the above frustrations. Too bad Skyrim doesn't have German-looking, easy to kill enemies. Maybe Draugers with German helmets.

Its a quad core Pentium i5, 3.0 mhz with 8gb RAM and Win7 64bit. The CPU is a AMD Radion HD 6670, although I'm not that keen on AMD and may change it for an nVidia when, and if ever, I have the cash.
I have the setting in FSX quite high, and the FPS suffers at times. To be honest, I'm not all that happy with FSX (its the Deluxe accelerator version) and I may go back to FS9 at some point, as I really think its a better version. However, if I did have the money, I'd be seriously considering X-Plane 10.

Tuna, I joined in for the Arma2 session last Saturday. The SimHQ version of the ACE mod was easy to install and was (so far) been easy to learn. The missions were a lot of fun and less buggy than the IF ones as they've been playing Arma2 a lot longer and got most of the issues ironed out.
Here's a video from Tigerwulf's POV on a mission we did where we had one understrength infantry platoon with two UH-60s in support. We were supposed to go and clear a couple of compounds of evil insurgent types. Looks like Tigerwulf didn't get to do too much. i was the machinegunner and was having a much more active time of it.

Well, to be honest I have dreaded setting my FSX back up... I tinkered with it so long on my other machine that if I farted wrong it could cause issues. I fixed all the issues with it to get it working fairly smoothly, but it took a lot of time investment... have debated if I want to go through that again.

If I had known what a pain FSX was going to be, I would stuck to FS9. Even finding / reinstalling all my downloaded aircraft seems like a bigger job than it was in FS9. In fact, I only have a fraction of the aircraft installed that I have for FS9. Mind you, I kept all the old stuff on a flash drive - just in case!
OK, some of the scenery stuff is better in FSX, but really not that much better, and at higher altitudes, there is no difference at all. FS9 with the mesh terrain and VFR scenery is probably better all round, and will most likely run better.
All this week I have been unable to tear myself away from Conquest of Elysium 3 and I expect the weekend to be no different. I'll have a look around though...I still need to play a full game of Zafehouse Diaries (maybe I should do a Grog-themed AAR like someone else around here did) and I may well fire up Age of Wonders: Shadow Magic in celebration of the glorious news we've had this week.
Non-computer gaming, but I also plan to kick my lady's arse at Android: Netrunner again this weekend. 8)
Going to finish up the main quest in Skyrim tonight. Going to spend the rest of the weekend playing the dragonborne DLC. Had some technical difficulties this week that I thought were going to force me to start over, but I think I got them fixed last night. For my next character, I think I'm going to cut down on the number of mods I use. Trying to get 50+ mods to work nicely together is really exhausting sometimes.
When I can tear myself away from Skyrim, I'm going to put some more time in on my new Wizard on Diablo 3. Started it last Sunday and already have it up to level 31. Already have 2 classes with 100+ hours of play time, why not have a 3rd....
I also might fire up Crusader Kings 2 and continue my game as Italy. I'm still really enjoying the game, but I'm starting to feel a little of the snowball effect.
Just working and shoveling, most likely.

They start play at 12 pm PST / 3 pm EST on Sundays. They also play on Mondays starting at 4pm PST / 7 pm EST.
Going to get Agricola on the table this weekend, as well as Sentinels of the Multiverse. Hoping to also get a chance to play Clash of Cultures, but that's probably expecting a bit too much.
Aside from that, I'll keep hacking away at play through #2 in True Vault Hunter mode in Borderlands 2. Some of the bad guys are nasty! Wickedly vicious elemental weapons, dudes in helmets and good grief do they like grenades now!
Far Cry 3 in single player. Having a great time even though the crafting is done a little to fast? I really like the sandbox game play this time around and no respawning of the same patrols all the time :)

WITP-AE, probably the whole weekend. It's September 43, and situations in the Solomon-and the Marshall Islands are getting tense.
Oddly enough, I'm enjoying Sins of a Solar Empire with the Distant Stars mod and the Maelstrom mod. With Galaxyforge, I have created maps with planets far apart and multiple stars. Each system has 5 planets and there are 10 stars. Ship travel is set to slow. Now it takes 5 minutes of real life time for a ship to go between planets!!!! Finally really feels like intrasystem travel. Fighting an enemy means traveling to their distant system of meeting them in an empty system.

Michael Broschek has some YouTube HoI3 tutorial videos (http://www.youtube.com/user/surray01), although they were made before the last expansion was out.
I played HOI III all the way through once. I liked that you could create army groups and give them orders to follow. I did not like that you had to research every last gun, bullet, nut and bolt in order to build a tank. If you decide that you would like an opponent, I would be glad to volunteer, Jarhead.

I've become somewhat dangerously obsessed with GOG of late -- Hoping to get better acquainted with Patrician III -- I've never played the series before and am really intrigued -- however my initial attempts have not worked out well. Also picked up Might & Magic VII and excited to delve into that. Have also been dabbling with Legend of Grimrock and am having fun -- if I had known it was so completely a revamp of Dungeon Master, I would have bought it earlier -- DM is easily on my top 10 favorites of all time list.
Re: HOI 3 -- don't be afraid to use the AI control feature for your armies -- setting objectives and axis of attack. IMO it's the single best thing about the game.

Light's just went off a couple times here, but came back on.. kicked the boys off their computers though.. hard reboots ain't good for your puter.. lol.. wish this laptop was a lil stronger.. Hope the power stays on from here on out..

No we are high on a hill.. our yard is higher then the top of the neighbor's house down below.. we'll never flood.. lol. might get 'stranded'.. as we are now, because no plows ever came during or after the storm ( we'll just have to weight)..
Floods are only during the high tides, so I think all would be in the clear now.. probably big bucks in property damages.. one of the times that I"m glad I don't live down on the water.. but it's still great to be near' the water..

The levels, design and art are totally fantastic. They probably ran out of money to make more rather than giving up on making more.
This weekend was LnL World Tourney at Game ON! in Seattle. Started Thursday at 1pm ended today at about 10:30am (for me).
Had a blast playing untold hours of face to face board wargaming. I'm very tired and now stuck in the Vancouver airport as my plane back east is delayed.
Made it to the semi finals of the LnL Tourney only to get destroyed at 7:30am this morning. A newbie (only started playing 2 weeks ago) won. Us old vets are shame faced but glad to have a new recruit.
Great fun, great group of people. I'll post the pics I took and more descriptions down in the Con forum when I get home and get the pics off my camera.

This weekend I dusted off my old VAIO laptop, downgraded it from Windows 7 to XP, and set about unifying japan in good old original Shogun Total War. And I must say, it is such a brilliant game, soooo much better than S2TW.

And yes I really enjoyed Dishonored. Probably my favorite game from last year.
