Was on my bike ride last weekend so had no gaming. I want to make up for it this weekend, but I may have "work" to do.
When I do get time, I'll be playing Sins of a Solar Empire (been through the tutorials twice and had a small failed game), FSX Hauler, painting and building my Trumpeter 1/35 Challenger II (I know that's not strictly gaming - but it's weekend relaxing time!) and possibly some OOTP 13
On the other hand, I do have cupboard doors to paint and a shower rail to fix and my bike tyres to change (put my summer ones back on and get the heavy duty Marathon tyres off)
So it'll be a busy weekend.
For me it'll be:
CMBN
CMSF
Final Fantasy 14 early access (yay!)
Europa Universalis 4
Distant Worlds Shadows
and some PayDay 2 with a group of friends.
I will be playing the following games:
- Hegemony Gold. Still playing the Philipp of Macedon campaign.
- Armada 2526 Supernova pbem
- This week i've seen the movie "Patton" so i've installed Blitzkrieg Gold and will start the "Rolling Thunder" campaign.
Dota 2
Dunno what else. I'll try the Occult Chronicles demo and maybe try a bit of Eador: Masters of the Broken World.
probably some Card Hunter this weekend... fun little game, that one :)
FSX
Europa Universalis IV a little bit of HOI III
Maybe continue Shogun 2 Vanila Campaign
CMBN email turns
Iron Front at SIMHQ maybe
DOTA2 Maybe..
DCS either if their helpdesk responds or if I figure the registry keys to delete.
Jeez too much gaming with too little time.. I need a long weekend!
HOI III as Italy
EU IV - still nation deciding, i bought it for a reason, may as well start playing it!
DOTA2 - need to start my training and get stuck in and join Huw on his adventures
Dawn of War II and Space Hulk.
Continuing to colonize the New World inEU IV
Checking out the release version of Occult Chronicles
Started a new game as Austria in EU IV last night. Going to continue that and maybe do some modding.
Yesterday afternoon I got a beta invite to the one Matrix game I applied. Going to be spending a lot of time with that this weekend. Might be spending more time with the scenario editor then the actual game though.
Our local group is playing a large game of SAGA (http://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/101865/saga) tonight and me and my son may go and observe. Hoping to get our own mini's game of Force on Force going this weekend. In a pbem game of Combat Mission: BB and so will get those turns out (old school CM). Itching for some ASL but may have to settle for Get to the Chopper! (http://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/35635/get-to-the-chopper) if that's what my son wants to play.
I've been in a gaming slump... A weekend of options for sure..... so I am going to:
EU IV - Ottoman Campaign
FSX - Air Hauler maybe a 20mil loan for 777F (CaptainSim)
Don't Starve - Got Free
Warhammer Space Marine - Finishing the unfinished for the Emperor
from there who knows....
Distant Worlds - continue campaign
CK II - start a new campaign
Dominions 3 - need to LEARN
SkyRim - kill stuff
OOTP 14 - continue ATL Braves
Wargame AirLand - Smash stuff
Hearts of Iron III - Germany Campaign continue.....
PE
I know that there's a lot of hoopla around Europa Universalis IV right now, but the time frame just doesn't trip my trigger. I think I'm going to dig into Victoria II: Heart of Darkness instead.
And some World of Tanks, of course. Almost have enough credits to purchase my T-95.

I like the time period of Victoria II much better but I have to say that EU4 is so much more fun to play! And I'll be playing more EU4 this weekend along with Deadlock.

Sounds good. I may do some Shogun2 too. Otherwise, ARMAIII, RoP and Fontenoy (boardgame) with the BAR Primer.
I picked up XCOM and Wargame European Escalation on sale last week so will be continuing my campaigns in both games. So far having a lot of fun with both games.
Against my better judgment, I've started a WitP: AE gc as Allies vs. AI Japan.
This is my 3rd serious attempt. If I can't get past spring '42 this time, I think I may have to resign myself to the idea that the game is just not playable, for me. But for now, I'm optimistic.
Working.
I just finished Hitman:Absolution. Very fun game.
I started playing Dishonoured again but I forgot most of the controls so I'm kinda stuck right now.

Ah man, I should really give it a serious try one of these years. I've had it for two years now, and have yet to give it a serious attempt. Best of luck, and see you in the year 2045 when you complete it!
I'm contemplating whether I should start Batman Arkham City which has been sitting on my backlog for a while now.
I'll probably spend a little time with NTW and the Great War mod. I've also been searching my house for my Medieval Total War 2 disc. Anybody know if this will run on Vista?
Then to finish up the weekend I'll be struggling with my wallet to see if I should get EUIV or not.

It's the greatest, deepest, hardest WW2 grand strategy game I know of... it makes games like HoI3 look positively childish (I say that as someone who really likes HoI).
But the problem is not only overcoming the massive hurdle of learning how to play it, it's like you say, a campaign can take years to finish... yikes...

Medieval 2 runs on vista for me just fine. Happy gaming.
Having fun with XCOM that I picked up in a sale last week so some more of that, some CiV Brave New World which I've just bought and probably a bit of Sins Rebellion.
I'll be playing Birth of the Federation per usual. Also, given they've just been updated again, I believe some Fallen Enchantress: Legendary Heroes and Distant Worlds: Shadows is in order as well.
Kick it old school with some modded up KOTOR. Maybe some BotF. Who needs new games? ;D

Still playing EU III as Scotland in 1399 using the MEIOU mod. I just survived the attempted English subjugation of Scotland even though I lost three provinces.
Some World of Tanks here and there. It is a real slog trying to work up my Panther past stock as some of you told me it would be.
I just got the alpha key for War of the Vikings so I'll be giving that a try.
Rising Storm/RO2.
Installing and configuring FSX.
And continuing to test Flashpoint Campaigns: Red Storm.
Absolutely no surf on the horizon and the daughter has a birthday party tomorrow, so there should be no excuses for not gaming my ass off this weekend.
Splinter Cell Blacklist and continuing a Civ 5 BNW epic campaign.

Finally digging into EU IV. Trying England and just got spanked by France. Portugal came to my aid but they could only hold out so long. Once their navy was gone France's navy was free to blockade my ports.

Sure thing. I built those sites....holy $hit, 11 years ago now. Seems like growing up, going from the age of 6 to 18 took centuries. After 30, things started really speeding up and now that I'm approaching fifty, 10 or 11 years seems like yesterday. This is the big one Ethel...... :o
This is the weekend of my Step-Daughter's wedding and so I've sworn off any drinking, cussing, farting, or belching and to be attentive, helpful, and CHEER-FUL in the presence of my wife's family. So I won't be getting much gaming in. But if I do, it'll be Skyrim because there are people coming to this wedding that both look and sound like the Drauger and Hagravens from the game. And when my family shows-up, they'll probably be dressed like the Forsworn wearing loin-cloths and deer antlers on their heads. And I'm the one whose not supposed to have a drink.
I'm hoping to get in some more Saints Row 4. Maybe try out Crysis 2 since I'm in the mood for some shooter action. And I'll bust out a few new board games. Forbidden Desert and Archipelago are on the top of the pile, so they're the most likely candidates.
I'm in a gaming funk these days. So I'm not sure what if anything will grab my fancy this weekend.

On a bit of an old school style RPG kick right now. I've got games going in:
Shadowrun Returns
Inquisitor and
Drakensang, which I'd forgotten how enjoyable this series of RPGs is.
I also got a wild hair and loaded up CK2 last night at 11:30 just to play a few minutes of my long abandoned Byzantine Count game, and ended up playing until 3AM. That almost makes me afraid to take the plunge and buy EUIV.
I'll probably also play the next scenario in my ongoing CMBN campaign, after I go for a haircut and shave today.

They're based on a German RPG system called "The Dark Eye," which seems to be as deep as 3rd Edition D&D or Pathfinder. The game world is a pretty traditional fantasy world, with an amount of lore that seems equal to Baldur's Gate or Neverwinter Nights.
Play feels pretty close to NWN2. It's party-based and pausable. Graphically it's pretty close to NWN2. The writing is pretty good; quests are sensible and serve to move the story along, there are a fair number of side quests, and combat is tactically interesting. Dungeons are a good length and variable. One thing I really enjoy is that the landscapes and particularly the urban environments are nicely detailed and really fit the established lore - places look like they should look, down to mountains and forests appearing in the correct directions if you examine any of the maps from the tabletop game.
A big plus for me (particularly after 500+ hours of Skyrim) is that your character is just an adventurer. You aren't some unknown demi-god that spends the first half of the game learning about your special powers and then the second half using them to save the world from some unspeakable evil. Yep, there's evil, yep, you and your pals are out to fight it, but you aren't the Dragonborn.
Nothing about the plot of any of the games will make you go "Wow, I didn't see that coming!" If you're looking for an enjoyable traditional fantasy RPG that is story driven and not loot driven, though, they're quite a lot of fun.

Okay, spider armies in region all gone. Yay!
New problem, though: My borders are beginning to encroach upon different armies sitting out there in the wild...and these are both significantly larger and
terrifyingly powerful (we're talking armies rated Deadly/Epic) -- my guys don't have a chance in hell against them right now. :o
I'm only playing on the easiest difficulty level, so they don't attack (thank the gods), but they're going to be a problem much sooner than later. Methinks it's time to switch over from Civilization to Warfare techs...

Since my current
EU4 game is entering it's final century, I've decided to start a marathon game of
CK2->EU4 using the converter in between.
It's difficult figuring out where I want to start, in an 867 'The Old Gods' point. It should probably be somewhere close to Europe, but I've been wanting to try forming the Persian Empire in EU4. Starting as a Zoroastrian in 867 is a tough start, since you're surrounded by Islamics who want to squish you.
I'm also not a big all-out warfare oriented player when it comes to most Paradox games, as I enjoy the other facets more. The warfare system isn't all that great other than
March of The Eagles being a noticeable improvement and it probably will not be adopted for future Clausewitz titles (unfortunately). So being in constant warfare isn't all that fun for me. It's the scheming, trade, colonization, and diplomacy. All this means that the constant warfare of a Zoroastrian start would probably feel like a burden.
Hrmm.. decisions. Perhaps a start as Rurik is in the cards. An anglo-saxon Brit suffering through lots of viking raids? I dunno, but whatever it is, there will be almost 1000 years of it. :o

If the Prince and the Thane mod for CK2 gets updated sometime soon (within the next month), I want to start a game as
the Hapsburg count and see if I can repeat their historic successes. If it doesn't get updated I may go with the CK2+ mod or even vanilla.

That's what I like about the Paradox games as well. One of my favorite parts about the HRE (in both games) is the internal politics of it. The scheming and horse trading to try and get tot the top.
I've never made it through an entire campaign. I get to a point where I feel like I've accomplished my goals for that campaign then I restart as someone else. Hopefully, having the Ck2 => EU4 converter will help me at least get through a CK2 campaign. Now all that we need is a EU4 to Vicky 2 converter.

Ready to paint
I've been playing lots of Animal Crossing this weekend. 8)
I've got four of those same kits J.D. The treads are the tricky part as no amount of glue will keep them in a loop that will then allow you to get it over the rollers. I've tried gluing the tread together while it is on the rollers but it just came apart anyways on two of the four kits. Let me know if you find a good way to do it.
What will you be using the mini for? That 1:72 scale is a good one for Force on Force. That's what we're planning on playing later today. I have a T-72 tank that came in Friday along with a box of Taliban fighters.
two staples at the track joint and then position the track so the staples are hidden by the side skirts.
Ah so! Didn't think of staples!
lol - I've already had to staple it. When I took ownership of it at work, I unboxed it to have a look and decided to see how stretchy the tracks were - not much apparently. So I had to stretch them.
The manual says to use a hot nail head to "melt" the little spoke parts that come through. Using staples might be difficult as once the track is on, there's no real space to utilise to get the staple in place...though I guess removing a couple of wheels first might work...but then the same could be said for using glue or the suggested hot nail head.
As for "what am I using the mini for"? I presume you think it's a mini? As in 1:72? It's not - it's a 1/35. Man - it'd be some boardgame for me to use this as a mini ;D
I don't think I'm dextrous enough to make a 1:72 anymore. So I stay with 1:48 (for cost and ease of fitting together) for aircraft and 1:35 for vehicles...though I'm not sure if I'll ever do a vehicle again - they are very time consuming.
There's a lot to be said for good kits. This isn't great tbh. Quite a bit of work to do on it and very fiddly in places where you think they could've made it not so fiddly. It's a nice looking kit though.
I have a 1:48 Sea Harrier I got for £9 (about $14) in a sale and I am looking forward to making that one...but I've still got a long way to go with this one
or thread. ;)

Oh - I thought it was the "Forces of Valor" 1:72 scale M1A2. The pieces look exactly the same but then again, I guess most kits of an M1A2 would look quite similar to one another. Also, I thought that you might be making it for use in a tabletop miniatures game (such as Force on Force) - not a boardgame. That's what I've been making mine for. See http://www.boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/41837/force-on-force (http://www.boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/41837/force-on-force) for more info if you like.

Jesus H....that's what I get for looking at the thing on my phone.
And yes, I DO need the name and all the modifiers/data on a counter but even then I need reading glasses and a magnifying glass to see it.
lol - yeah - it's a Trumpeter 1/35 Challenger II ;D

Exactly! I helped finance my second daughter's 3rd home. In return she made me a patterned umbrella from Able Sisters shop. :)
Hahaha, my daughter loves to design patterns! They're all over the bloody place! Then she commands me to make one which inevitably sucks because I don't have an artistic bone in my body (whereas she's very talented in this area) and I feel bad. :D

Thanks - someone had linked to that (and a metal set of tracks) some time ago. I'm giving the normal ones a go first - those look like a fair bit of work to make - and then paint
metal tracks are nice because the work involved is simply clearing the channel lines for the pins and putting them together. the weight of the metal tracks also lets them fall across return rollers and whatnot in a very realistic way.
Got them on
Took excess track off, removed two wheels (they're not glued on anyway), put the track round and used a hot nail to melt the protruding bits onto the holes they came through.
It looks kind of ropey - as in it doesn't look like it would last too long - but it is going to just sit there.

And some more "Abrams" - she's taking shape (but not as an Abrams!)

Scratching head
Is that a Challenger turret, soviet style petrol tanks, and a Chinese Type 89 hull?
Don't ask me!! It ain't WW2, that's all that I know.

Well it is a Trumpeter kit :)
The Challengers do carry external fuel tanks on the rear. I don't know about the hull.

There are some great how to guides there.
