Loved sniper 2, day one purchase for me....
I didn't even know they were working on #3. Excellent! Love the differences in the interview answers between the lead developer and the sound guy. The lead gave the sort of disingenuous "oh we do this kill-cam stuff because it's educational" answer whereas the sound guy was just "Cor! We gort some fruit and veg and squished it all up to make them loverly organ mushing sounds you get when dem bullets hit dem body parts, innit?!"
Just picked this up at the last Steam sale and buzzed through it. Terrific fun! And yeah. Killcam good! Adding this to my want list.
Chris--
That kill cam is a bit gruesome for me tbh. I must be more squeamish than I thought!
I'm sold on it.
The only thing I kept thinking about during the kill cams was humpty dumpty.
The way they talk they created the kill cam first and then a game to work with it.
Is there any rough estimate for release? So far, I could only find "2014" as the estimate.

Won't someone please think of the grapes?!
Saw at gamestop they have the release date for the consoles as 7/1/14....maybe PC release date will be in that ballpark too....
Well, not surprisingly. I decided to jump in on the pre-order for Sniper Elite 3, although I am sure I would be able to find it cheaper some day:) I simply loved Sniper Elite 2 and know I will get my $39 worth. This cost is a 20% discount, plus you get one free DLC with it. If your buying the PC version, you can only buy from the developer store, but it is a Steam key.
https://games.rebellionstore.com/en/product/view/sniper-elite-3
According to the latest information, game set to release on the PC June 27th and the consoles in early July...not sure how firm all these dates are, but seems to be what people think and is currently listed on the developer's order page.
While I wait, I decided to run through Sniper Elite 2 one last time...plus I did something tonight I never thought I would....bought the zombie army versions, 1 & 2 since on sale at Gamersgate for $3.75 a piece....although I am not a big zombie fan, even these versions have a good feel to them so far.
Can't wait for June 27th!
Let me know if you're up for some co-op zombie snipin'.

Thanks SDR...let me see what kind of schedule I'll have this week....just curious, where do you live/timezone and what time do you typically play?
One thing for sure, this seems very hard to play as single player when you have hordes of enemy coming at you non-stop:(
And the fact you have to always get a headshot for a kill makes it tougher since the zombies are constantly swaying their heads, tough to get a clean shot....

What? You expected the zombie apocalypse to be a walk in the park?
I must need new glasses because I keep reading the thread title as "Stripper Elite" (which would be an automatic Day One purchase, btw.).

Come on, I wanted a realistic zombie game that would really happen in the real world:)
Its actually pretty fun so far but with so many zombies coming at you, really have to be quick and use all your weapons....not really a sniper experience, more a survive at all costs experience:)
Cut short the holiday due to the coup and the resultant curfews and related nonsense. I should be back to Van today. I am in the Pacific time zone. I work a pretty odd shift schedule but I'm usually free at least 2 evenings a week.
Looking really nice...
A very long time ago, over a 10MB network my friend and I used to play the first Medal of Honour H2H.
We were both besotted with sniping, we would stalk each other round maps, especially the one with the church, there was something very Hollywood about sniping from a bell tower, and we played for hours and hours
Watching this reminds me of those days and i hope it is like that in MP

I'd never played any Sniper Elite games until my son told me this past weekend that SE2 was free on Steam, so I downloaded it and played for about 15 minutes. That slow-motion kill cam stuff was pretty :D
so a game was free on Steam and you didn't tell us...... :(
I only caught it in the last few minutes. My son is the one that told me about it, and truthfully I DL'd it and forgot until this past weekend.
My apologies for this oversight. I did not have sexual relations with that intern.
Kill Cam testicle removal hits aren't pretty.
Love the game, but not sure I would pay $150 for the special edition they are advertising....

Just a little more Than day to go....release day is on Friday!
There is speculation of a preload sometime today so that would help...perfect release timing going into a weekend.
Yes. It's nice when they release on Friday as opposed to Tuesday. Can't wait!

Pre load now available
All loaded up....just 19 hours until release....
Reviews starting to come in....seems somewhat positive

Sniper 3 released early and ready for playing!!!!!!!
Gosh darn it that I have to work today.....can't wait until tonight.
Kind of interesting they already have 3 additional dlc available for purchases on day one....mostly looks like extra weapons and stuff....I am sure I will get sucked in for it at some point to support them. They also have a season pass option that I might consider too since I know I likely will buy all new dlc:)
Got a few minutes of play in before leaving for work......kill cam is back in all its glory! Even a little slower so you can really FEEL the bullets penetrate.
Not enough played to really comment about anything else, has the same feel as prior version, which is a good thing for me.....
From the Strategy Informer review: "...sniping in SE3 is one of the most schlockily addictive guilty pleasures in gaming. You will feel sort of bad when you first shoot someone through the testicle in slow motion. Then you will do it again and again."

I'm really looking forward to my first vas deferens kill shot.
Gee...I guess nothing kills a conversation like a shot to the vas deferens, eh?
So far so good....completed a number of the first missions....but so far seems a little more run and gun than the prior version.....plus, now to pick stuff up you have to hold a key for a number of seconds versus instantly getting the stuff immediately...
Still very cool and the xray camera is more gruesome than ever:)
Interesting saga unfolding about Rebellion revoking a lot of cd keys today....here is one of the supposed cd key stores version of the story.....no idea what the real story is but drama nonetheless...I will just continue playing my game happily:) I do find it interesting they suggest hundreds of thousands of keys revoked, wonder how many copies this game sales?
Rebellion SCAM !!!
Read pls .
One of the biggest scams to hit the game industry is unfolding as I type this article. You may already be aware of it. Thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of Sniper Elite Steam 3 CD Keys have been Illegally revoked and de-activated, by the game's own developer, Rebellion. CJS CD Keys are lucky enough that we have not been affected by this problem. If we ever are, we will always provide customers with a full refund or a fully working key, but so far, so good. What's not okay though, is that Rebellion appears to be trying to frame innocent retailers for their own doings, but we seek to find out the truth about the goings on.
What happened?
On 27th June, thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of CD Keys for Sniper Elite 3 were revoked from customer's Steam accounts without warning and without a legitimate reason. Affected customers and indeed, the affected retailers who sold the keys, had purchased the keys legitimately, only to see the game disappear from their Steam game library.
How many retailers were affected by the problem?
The situation is currently unfolding, but it appears that over 60+ retailers have been affected by the scam. An interesting point is that the issue is not unique to companies dedicated to selling CD Keys. There are also many reports that customers who purchased from official outlets such as GreenManGaming were also affected by the scam. The only keys which were NOT revoked appear to be keys sourced from boxed copies of the game, and keys bought directly on Steam.
Why did it happen?
Immediately after the keys were banned, Rebellion tried to cover themselves by posting the following statement on the Steam Forums: (it has since been edited to suit their side of the story).
"We have been saddened to learn that some fans have been caught out by companies selling unlicensed or stolen Sniper Elite 3 Steam keys. If you have been affected by this we encourage you to contact the seller in question and seek a refund immediately."
Just a few hours ago, this statement recommended that customers get a refund from their retailer and purchase the game directly on Steam at full retail price. They have since edited this out in response to the major backlash from customers who paid in good-faith. They also added the following statement, which we believe is a white lie at best:
"As a developer Rebellion are happy for you to purchase the game anywhere you see fit and support price competition in the PC market – we have in no way targeted any specific vendors (who may have also thought these keys were legitimate), just this one set of keys."
If rebellion were happy for the games to be purchased anywhere, then why did they previously recommend that customers only buy directly on Steam? (They since removed this comment). How could 'just one set of keys' reach 60+ retailers? The affected retailers are based in countries all over the world, who buy from various distributors around the world. Some even buy directly from the relevant regional publisher, if they are a large shop with sufficient purchasing power.
Unfortunately, we find it rather hard to believe that a single set of 'stolen' keys managed to reach official distributors and publisher offices all around the world. We believe that this statement:
"As a developer Rebellion are happy for you to purchase the game anywhere you see fit"
is an absolute fabrication. We beleive Rebellion banned these keys for the exact opposite reason. While the term 'unauthorised reseller' bounces about the internet, the truth is that there is no such thing. Under the first-sale doctrine, the copyright ownership of a license key ends after the first sale (I.E from publisher to distributor). See here for full details. This means that all legal entities (even members of the public) have a legal right to re-sell their license keys as they see fit. The developer has absolutely no legal right to stop keys being re-sold. The only requirement in law for re-selling virtual software / digital goods is that the original copy of the virtual item must be destroyed once copied over to someone. (This makes more sense when considering the re-selling of a digital copy of your legally purchased music, for example). Of course, with Steam's DRM system, the key can only be used once, so deleting access to the 'original copy' is not an issue.
Unfortunately Rebellion want to encourage the public to purchase their game at the full retail price, directly from Steam, in order that they can maximise profits. We have reason to believe that the banning of keys sold outside of Steam goes against numerous antitrust, anti-competition, and anti-monopoly laws.
While many game developers (and Steam themselves) will legitimately try to encourage users to stay away from re-sellers and buy directly on Steam at the full retail price, what Rebellion has done today is absolutely immoral. They have banned legitimately purchased keys, legally owned by multiple online retailers and gamers worldwide, and covered their tracks by claiming that the keys were 'stolen'.
What can we do?
If you are a gamer and you have purchased from a retailer only to see your key revoked, we would love to hear from you in the comments section. Most retailers should give you a full refund or replacement on the key as a goodwill gesture. In the meantime the retailers affected by this scam will take it upon themselves to clear their names, claim back the money on the illegitimately revoked keys, and make sure that Rebellion are punished for this illegal and immoral act.
We (CJS CD Keys) are lucky enough that we have not been affected by this issue. If you purchase Sniper Elite 3 from CJS CD Keys you will not be affected as we have tested our keys and they are in fully working order. In addition, CJS CD Keys have a policy where customers will always receive a fully working key (forever) or a full refund, so you know you have full support if you ever did run into trouble for some reason. CJS would never deal in 'stolen' goods, and we know for a fact that many of the affected retailers also would never do such a thing. Indeed, it's quite difficult to believe that thousands of game keys were 'stolen' and magically reached numerous distributors worldwide in the space of 1 day. It's rather obvious who is the guilty party here.
We also found an interesting comment from PC Media PTE LTD, an official seller of games, similar to ourselves, which was posted on the controversial steam thread:
"Ok, this kind of thing has to stop.
I understand where Rebellion are coming from in regards to prices being too low and regional based restrictions being bypassed but this is a free internet where people have the choice to do what they like with something they just purchased.
What you are doing here is against the fair trade act 1973 and will be dealt with to the full extent possible in terms of claiming any losses and damages from Rebellion. All of our suppliers are officially licensed distributors yet you have the audacity to claim we are all fraudulent buyers and that everyone can only buy it from steam for it to be legitimate.
This is a complete fabrication and has no legal standing whatsoever. Every person or consumer has a right to purchase your game wherever they see fit of that company is buying your games legitimately and you cannot punish us or any other seller for selling your game if this is the case.
This is possibly the most underhanded tactic i have ever seen from a publisher and you deserve to be punished for it.
Regards
BuyDlPlay.Com/OnlineKeyStore.com
CEO PC Media PTE LTD"
Which retailers have been affected by the scam?
We are currently aware that over 60+ online retailers have been affected by the scam. There are numerous reports on the Steam forums of GreenManGaming customers have been affected too, so this issue is not unique to CD Key retailers. It's rather clear that Rebellion are trying to monopolise the sales of their game, while framing legitimate retailers and claiming the keys as 'stolen' to try and cover their tracks.
I'm playing with realistic ballistics and no tactical assistance and finding it much more of a challenge than the previous two games.

I do like the openness of the maps, not as clustered together as previous game...however, so far it seems like I am doing far less sniping and more just running and shooting to stay alive...probably me not understanding and not playing more stealthy at this time.
Would I be crazy to suggest that I think the bullet cam is actually a step back? I've only taken head shots so far, so perhaps the vascular and tissue layers aren't as prominent, but I think the increased gore is over the top. It just looks corny. There is such a thing as too much blood.

The increased gore and muscle tearing hasn't put me off.....however, I think what has made it worse is the fact the game extremely slows down now while in xray cam especially when going through the body, which makes you take much more of it in and seems more pronounced. Because of the additional slowness, I do like last versions better, this version would be OK if they included some kind of camera speed slider to make it go faster.....slows you down a lot, in my opinion.
Movement seems a little hard for me using keyboard and mouse, not as precise as I remember from the past.....regardless, very much enjoying it so far....last mission, executing a number of stealth kills as I sneaked through a mountain pass.....enjoyable so far.
Yeah, I've found the movement to be a little less responsive than in the previous titles. I find it hard to line up on an ammo box to pick up supplies if I'm running. I think they're trying to simulate inertia when running so you should press the walk or crouch key. I'm OK with that but if that's the case, they should have it take the guy a few strides to get up to full speed rather than insta-sprint.
I'm finding the bullet drop more pronounced in this one compared to S2. I don't have any aiming assists on and it took me a hell of a lot of shots to take out that flak wagon in the first mission. (Damned sniper seems to have zeroed his scope at the muzzle of his rifle.)
I have 5 hours put into the game, which is about 12% of the campaign completed according to my stats within the game.....I am probably slower than others:)
Enjoying it so far, a lot of variety in the first few missions....getting better at stealth play, takes a lot of patience!
Had a great kill in my last mission where I was able to kill two soldiers with one bullet.....shot the first soldier through the heart and then the bullet went through him, bounced off the ground and shot the soldier behind him through the kidney.....that was one magic bullet:)
Also love it when you hit the grenades attached to the soldier belts....I have killed a group of close standing soldiers by hitting that and blowing them all up at once!

I'm going agonizingly slowly as I feel I've got to get all the goodies and optional stuff on each level. I've got 2.5 hours of play time but I'm only just starting the 2nd mission.

Yeah, I am thinking of restarting just to do the same since I didn't realize all the optional stuff until a few missions in. There really is a lot to do. No idea how some people are reporting they finished the game in 6-8 hours.....they must be just running at full speed to complete it.
Wish I could have more than one campaign running at a time so could experiment with one and be real serious with the other.
Pretty large patch released today......
Added the option to disable the aim assist zoom and reticle independently of difficulty setting (the multiplayer aim assist setting will override this, as will Authentic difficulty).
Removed limits on raw mouse input data – which should hopefully address the "negative mouse acceleration" issue.
Added "Autobalance" as a team-based multiplayer option (will automatically move players from one team to another on death if the number of players become imbalanced).
Added quicksave (F5) and quickload (F9) on button press.
New profiles will attempt to detect keyboard layouts other than qwerty and set default controls accordingly (we're currently only supporting a small subset of variant keyboards, primarily azerty and qwertz layouts; please get in touch with our support department if you see any issues).
Dedicated Server gains "kickindex" and "kickbanindex" commands (which were already documented but were lost between V2 and SE3).
Added a "windowed" tickbox to the launcher options.
Fix co-op desync due to bulletcams (bullet cams are now sychronised where they're supposed to play for both, and we prevent weapons firing multiple times for the non-bulletcam-viewing player in non synchronised cases).
Fix co-op desync when getting on turrets.
Bleedout countdown notifications should now display correctly for both players in co-op (when difficulty setting allows).
Added latency indicators to the scoreboard in multiplayer.
"Through The Looking Glass" should trigger correctly.
DLC collectibles/achievements no longer counted against campaign progress.
A few leaves should no longer be able to stop gunfire, but AI rifles should be slightly less likely to shoot through solid objects and be slightly less accurate.
Bullets should emerge from the gun's muzzle regardless of the shadow setting!
Incapacitation on uneven surfaces should be slightly more robust.
Various fixes to prevent ragdolls interpenetrating surfaces.
Driver killcams made more robust (driver no longer killed when hits are near the view-slot, and killcams are triggered more reliably when the shot does hit the view-slot).
Tweaked dialogue audio settings to improve spatialisation.
Airfield's rescued prisoners no longer pose awkwardly.
Ghost Town now has more consistency in vaults over walls, building walls should no longer allow grenades through, and hiding below the ground surface should be slightly less likely.
Rat Run no longer has a building that partially disappears depending upon viewing angle/location.
Ruins and Beachhead should have fewer levitating rocks and plants!
DLC weapons now have names in Czech again.
Notes:
Steam cloud is unfortunately still not working.
Co-op for DLC missions is also unfortunately delayed to the next patch.
Disabling aim assist doesn't disable the tutorial messages about using the aim assist.
Another patch released today....haven't got as much time with the game as I hoped so far, but hopefully soon....
UPDATE: 17th July 2014 - Version 1.04 Patch Notes
Version 1.04
New Content:
"Airstrip" - A new multiplayer map, free to all owners of the game, supporting all multiplayer game modes including No Cross.
Bug fixes:
Better error reporting in the launcher to try to diagnose startup issues.
Multiplayer: Fixed desync due to bulletcams in multiplayer (where the target can survive on every machine except the one of the person firing the shot).
Multiplayer: Bulletcams are no longer prevented by nearby dead bodies.
Multiplayer: Fixed an issue where large chunks of the level would be invisible in "Hellfire!" from certain viewing angles/positions.
Multiplayer: Fixed an emerge-from-cover issues in "Ruins"
Co-op: When host changes level while in the briefing screen, client's collectible information updates to match.
Continued changes to ragdolls to reduce interpenetration with environment.
Double-click should now work on server browsing list.
AIs reloading don't get confused by player attempts at melee killing them (in Sniper Elite and Authentic difficulties).
Firing from hip while moving should now orient the character before firing the weapon rather than firing immediately.
Total collectable count now reflects currently installed DLC rather than ignoring DLC or counting DLC that isn't installed.
Czech and Slovak keyboard layouts supported.
Notes:
We've been hard at work trying to finish co-op support for the DLC missions, so co-op in both "Hunt The Grey Wolf" and the new "In Shadows" mission is coming really soon now.
We've also just about nailed the steam cloud issues but a final round of testing's going to be needed.
If you're having issues with launching the game, the changes to the launcher may give you a new error message to help us diagnose the problem, but if that's still not sorted it out we are still trying to provide better diagnosis tools; more news on this very soon.
We're aware that the ribbon images are not showing up in the service record (as far as we're aware it's just a graphical issue and the achievements are being registered correctly).
