Seems like this goes back to the Great Biometrics Crusade of 2008 (http://www.wargamer.com/forums/posts.asp?t=270194&pg=1). The government is trying to create ways to put everyone into the potential pool of 'guilty parties' and forcing people to rule themselves out, rather than starting with reasons for suspicion and ruling people in.

At the risk of being monitored by the thought police I must say that our freedoms and privacy are being stripped away at an alarming rate. The sad thing is the masses are letting it happen. We are all f'kd.
The other week I removed the Kinnect device from my Xbox because I read that MS uses the camera to spy on your house and see what you have inside. Then they cater to you by targeting ads based on what they notice in your home.
All of this sounds like something far fetched but I whole heartedly believe it. Do you not think that it is every tyrants greatest desire to know and control every single person on the planet? 1984 is not coming folks, it's here and taking root day by day.

cant remeber, its was either older LadyGaga or Kylie Minogue stuff or something even from the 80ties... it looks like welding shield but way more fancy in the videos ... and will later also as clip-on to the glasses

Everything seems to be moving in that direction. There are countless petty people wanting to be the person you have to come to, hat in hand, to do something.
I don't agree with much of the reaction in this thread. They are searching for tools that can "hack" into a console and access information within. These tools will be used on consoles seized in legal, court authorized searches. The responders in this thread want to make it sound like tools are being developed for giant fishing expeditions on unwary gamers, done without their notice. I think we all need to realize that as technology changes our lives, law enforcement is also going to evolve. Besides, the really disturbing things are probably classified...
The only thing that concerns me, in this case, is the purchase of consoles from overseas for the purpose of obtaining research data.
