is the editor the same as the ARMA editor?

Same editor.  I've been doing the same relatively simple stuff in the editor for years:

1) look around the map
2) drive or fly something
3) set up a series of defenses and try to get through them
4) set up a defense and try to defend it against attacks from all sides
5) confused meeting engagement
6) try specific weapons (planes were popular for a while) -- so eventually (these edited scenarios evolved
in the editor), my POV guy would see some kind of air attack and then try to get to some objective with
his squad through a lot of stuff)

I play with the guys from SimHQ on a semi-regular basis.  they've just upgraded their server to include the new DLC.  Here's a video of a co-op mission of an American assault on German defensive position.  Things go to rat-shit right off the bat when both the platoon and senior squad leaders get cut down almost immediately.  Junior squad leader steps up and scrambles to re-establish order and continue the assault.

We play every Saturday at 1pm PST/4pm EST/9pm GMT

Video posted by Tigerwulf from SimHQ.

That looks like alot of fun.

That was Awesome SDR, thanks for sharing!... I'm gonna have to make one of those sessions (maybe when the wife is scrapbooking - otherwise, gaming is usually at night for me)..

Now I'm definitely gonna have to grab that DLC!

i have to say, so far, after fiddling in the editor and playing small vignettes its the best WW2 action game ive played - sometimes amongst the dearth and multitude of WW2 games its easy to understand the Normandy/WW2 game fatigue, but every now and again one pops up to put a smile on ones face - i can literally play Saving Private Ryan or (so far) the town raid of Kellys Heroes - i just need a bank

Is there a web site that hosts user made missions, especially for the Normandy dlc?  Would like to see how much is available before taking the plunge.

heh its funny you should mention that - i dont think theres many, i sometimes get the impression that the purists are still with Arma II and Arrowhead and because this wasnt an official BI product they dont experiment as much, akin to the Afghanistan game for CMBN - it hardly gets a mention

all this is what i can deduce, im sure theres a forum somewhere with a shit ton of scenarios but i havent seen it yet!

You definitely should.  Everyone's welcome.  The hosts just ask that you use Teamspeak if you're going to play.  You don't have to speak, but they'd like you to be able to hear what's going on.

As for missions, you can grab a number of them from the official game forum.

I don't think there are that many out there as the state of the game on release was poor and that drove a lot of people away.  The fact that Iron Front, unlike ArmA,  is not moddable also serves to limit the number of mission makers.

It is a possibility:). I already own the base game and wasn't that impressed, but that was before all the patches.  I am really considering the dlc since I prefer that part of the wAr.  Even though multiple download sites, seems limited content.

I am sure ill cave at some point:)
