My problem with most Paradox games is my inability to remember that it is a marathon, not a sprint.  I always try to do too much too quickly.

This is a very good DLC, I would say on par with Sword of Islam..... I am always hesitate about DLC, however in this case build on a good foundation and add many NEW content and features.... unlike some of their other titles.  Overall I think the main DLC have been worth it and this IMO is their best work to date so it bolds well for the future.

I'm just a little worried that the feudal powers will be at a disadvantage against the merchant republics. I have not checked, but do they get a "kickback" from the trade posts built in their lands?

For example, the Doge of Genoa declared war on some Emirates. I was not really paying attention as I did not intend to levy my troops to help him (because he is my father-in-law and a right jerk who tries to dishonor me at every turn). Suddenly, he died and I won the election, which plopped me in control of the 7000+ troops that he had managed to raise! I have no clue where he got those (I suspect I will get socked with a mercenary bill at the end of the month) but that is a lot of troops for a relatively small (in terms of provinces) power.

Yes.  They do, last time I checked.

I've not actually played it much, yet, but I recall that being specifically mentioned.

I couldn't find one, but there are now a couple of Let's Plays up on Youtube that helped me to understand the new elements immensely.  Until I watched one, I couldn't even figure out how to build a trading post.
