I pre-ordered and paid full price because I like the genre and there really is a dearth of good tactical level naval warfare games out there.

I got the dreaded freeze bug on both of my PCs and the responses I got from Turbo Tape (in the beginning when they'd actually bother to respond) were rude, dismissive, and tinged with paranoia.  That the debs wanted to make a game is great.  That they lacked the skills and experience to successfully do so is a shame.  That the game was released in such a buggy state and not effectively dealt with is the fault of the publisher.  Seems like Paradox is finally recognizing their duties in this regard and will hopefully get things sorted.

The problem was not so much as they tried (and failed).  It's more about how they mis-handled the aftermath of their blunders.  Instead of being honest and openly addressing (and admitting) problems, they went into all manner of excuses and denials.

So are they moving on to government?

...and then instead of fixing the problems... they released some DLC.

i hope some really aggrieved customer (i paid £4, im not that upset) hunts them down on every game site they create and asks them if its got a save game feature, just to really piss them off like theyve done to a lot of people

Wow. Talk about a strongly worded letter!

i like the game, it could do with some more documentation and maybe a force guide (what are F18Es for that F18s arent etc..) but the save feature or lack there of killed it for me - never met the freeze error

I went to the link listed above and explained the problem I was having with the freeze bug. Paradox responded a few days later saying that they were aware of the bug but were unable to fix it.  They asked for proof of purchase and proof of bug.  I provided a copy of my receipt and a link to my several posts in the Naval War forum over the course of several months.

They offered to provide one of their games as compensation so I asked if I could have a copy of either CKII-the Republic or Warlock.  They gave me both.  While it's a shame they couldn't get NWAC fixed, I'm very pleased with the customer service.  Good job Paradox!

That is great service.  Paradox are fast becoming my favourite publisher.

On tutorial mission 3, the CV attack against enemy frigates and fighters.

Is there a shortcut to launching a strike against a specific target? In Naval War Arctic Circle seems you launch each plane individually, wait for all the planes to get into the air, select them then right click to send them to a grid square.  Then select the squadron again and right click with the mouse to draw a rectangle in the target area.  Advance time and wait to see if they fly in the right direction to attack?

Also in Harpoon each squadron of planes would have a red circle representing the longest range standoff weapon equipped.  Was very useful to be able to send in Harpoon or HARM equipped planes first, followed by a strike force with shorter ranged weapons.  Is there an option to display this in Naval War Arctic Circle?

Select the unit and bring up the Weapons display menu.  Click on the individual weapon from the list and it will display the range circle.  If you click on another function, this range ring disappears until you re-select the weapon.
