Got the DW stuff at Xmas.  Haven't played yet

I hate it when games get rave reviews but don't offer a demo or any kind of discount off the sticker price.  There are too many crappy games masquerading as good games these days to warrant spending that kind of money.

I definitely don't blame you for being reluctant to pick up Distant Worlds.  Given its price (especially with the expansions), it's pretty amazing it's as popular as it is.  That, in and of itself, says a lot (mostly good) about its "fun factor", but there's no denying it's asking an awful lot for players to please purchase this expensive game for which there's not even a demo. 

I think if Matrix did release a demo for DW, it would make a world of difference.  Then folks could see for themselves that as pricey as the game is, it *is* truly worth paying. 

So, on second thought, maybe I'll see if I can just plan on checking out DW sometime in 2014?

Hey, why not?  At that point, maybe they'll finally have a single bundle package with all three expansions...at which point, they'll probably announce Distant Worlds 2: The Search for More Money.  :P

The council told me last Monday that the collector's lifting gear kept freezing in the snow so they didn't bother to collect from my area.  I wouldn't have even known that much if I hadn't pestered them on Twitter.  So they said leave it out and they'll be by during the week.  Nothing.

They'll still happily take my council tax though!
