Here was an old PC Gamer article about it from last year:

http://www.pcgamer.com/previews/clockwork-empires-a-preview-of-gaslamp-games-lovecraft-laden-steampunk-city-builder/

I've not really seen much about the specifics of gameplay yet, but it's made by the Dungeons of Dredmor guys (Gaslamp Games) so I'm willing to watch out for it despite only rarely being in a city-builder/dwarf fortress mood.

Thanks for the reminder.  This one had fallen off my radar..
Government is not the solution to our problem—government is the problem.   Ronald Reagan
The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not.   Thomas Jefferson
During times of universal deceit, telling the truth becomes a revolutionary act.   George Orwell  The truth is quiet...It's the lies that are loud.   Jesus Revolution
If you ever find yourself in need of a safe space then you're probably going to have to stop calling yourself a social justice warrior. You cannot be a warrior and a pansy at the same time   Mike Adams (RIP Mike)

I remember drooling over this but I don't know anything further. Anyone know a release date?

I found an acticle from last November.  Assuming the author knows what he's talking about, this quote seems to indicate that Clockwork Empires still has a long way to go...

Quote
The next indie project from the Dungeons of Dredmor creators at Gaslamp Games, a city simulator by the name of Clockwork Empires, is so early in development that gameplay specifics are practically nonexistent.

Sweet! Thanks, Steve.
All that is gold does not glitter,

Not sure if it will actually be in the game, from the article it sounds like it may be concept art, but hopefully it'll make it into the game.  I like the looks of it and I like that it implies support for amphibious landings...
