I just got an update from the KS project. Basically the next update to the game is going to be big and will add in the game's procedural magic system. So expect to see magical items, arms, and armor soon!

The constant dying in the game reminded me of Might and Magic I?.

I had played a game like it on the C64 where you were in a gallery and entered the pictures as I recall.

After that I tried a few RPGs and was so bad at them and dying so often that I didn't go back to them until Morrowind.

I missed all the games like Baldur's Gate etc. when they first came out because of the early RPGs.

Would that be Waxworks?

magnus

No that isn't it.

Every few years I think about the game and take the time to find out what the name was but in the ensuing years I forget it again.

Hmmm.  I'm intrigued now!  Think, good man, think think!

That does not ring a bell... I'm intrigued too!

Wow, a C64 game I have never heard of?  How can this be?  It looks really good as well, I'd have loved it.  Very reminiscent of Ultima and something about it makes me think of Megatraveller too.

magnus

Yes it was a very good game.

It is what led me to try other RPGs. Alas, at the time the others left a bad taste in my mouth.
