After downloading all three patches, should they be installed in a specific order?

I cobbled together someone else's instructions for installation and edited it a bit:

How to Install Achtung Panzer: Operation Star, updates, and DLC.

1)Install the base game

2) Install 581 patch by first Running * op_star_game_update_v581_eng_v2.exe *

3) Unzip the * k43t_apos_patch_aug12_eng_v3.exe * 7z file to a new folder you create

4) Go to game the directory where APOS was installed (C/Matrix Games/Achtung Panzer by default for my Matrix edition) and run the update.cmd file. This will open an updater program.

5) Click the Install button and point to the folder where you unzipped the * k43t_apos_patch_aug12_eng_v3.exe * file, open the Core folder and click on the desc.addpack. This will install the patch.

6) Install the Polygon optional patch by unzipping the * k43t_apos_upd_dist_taran_rakit_aug12_eng.exe * 7z file to a new folder.  Click the Install button and point to the folder where you unzipped the * k43t_apos_upd_dist_taran_rakit_aug12_eng.exe * 7z file,  open the Core folder and click on the desc.addpack. This will install the polygon patch.

7) Click on the Save and Play button

Game will be updated

*******************************************************
Then install the DLC's just like you did for the Polygon patch:

Like so:
4) Run update utility (click to game version in main menu).
5) In the window that appears, click "Install" button and select "CORE\desc.addpack" file in folder with unpacked update.
6) Wait for the installation.
7) Click "Save and Play" button.
*******************************************************

Just substitute the latest update file name for the "Aug12" one.

You can just plug in all the "desc.addpack" Updates at one time, into the Game Updater program, then Save & Exit.  I always put the core set and gfx one first, and then any others in whatever order.

I suggest copying & pasting this into a text file, and burning it off on a DVD along with the install files for future use.

I kept getting some corrupted files when I was d/l'ing that stuff earlier this month.  Finally got one to install from the download, even though I would get a corrupted file error that it wouldn't skip, from the same installer, after I burned it on DVD and tried installing to my notebook.  Odd.  >:(  IIRC, the corrupted files were always in some of the Windows support installers (like the DirectX & such).

Tuna

Can anybody tell me the full size of the two big files? Just wondering, so I'll know how it's doing during my multiple retries..

Bismarck

Core is 3.24 MB.
March 13 is 484 MB
polygon is 1.2 GB

Tuna

Problem solved!!.. Was able to successfully download the patches with my Android Tablet...

Don't know what the heck was up with Windows, I was trying on 3 different PCs... would always get hung up after 50-100 MB!

Jarhead0331

The latest core updater keeps breaking my install...

Jarhead, what core engine were you running before updating?  5.80?

Do you have any mods installed?

Tuna

When I run the Polygon update, it doesn't add anything to the update list.. is that the way it's supposed to be?

So now I have

Bismarck

Where did you get 2,3,4,5? I have the Matrix version.

Tuna

2, 3 and 4 are add on DLC's.. got them from GamersGate.. my Original is from there as well..

krasnaya-polyana

volokonovka-1942-summer

sokolovo-1943

Add them to your price watch lists, they are frequently on sale!

Bismarck

I re-installed the Matrix version 5.77. Do I need another update before installing the three listed here?  Thanks.

If your talking about the DLC, yes, I think you have to upgrade for one or more of them, but they usually say on the Gamersgate page, what patch you need.. Gamersgate also has patches available.. but they don't have the 'new' ones yet..

Not sure if you can mix and match with Matrix, I know some games have issues with that, but not sure if that is the case here...

Tuna -- your update 'log' looks good -- same as what I have -- I don't think the polygon add-on changes anything in the log anyway.

Bismarck -- The most up-to-date game engine is 5.81, so you should update to that with the new Core update (should be an .exe).  The Core should be updated before anything else (add-ons etc.)

the Add-on's on Tuna's list are 'for sale' content -- not free.

...Isn't this a dandy way to update your games?   :-\
