On the other, if he's connected and they can squeeze info out of him that will nail more of the bastards and save innocent lives, then THAT is the obvious choice.

It's a good bet they had help.

Their method of bomb making is too similar to what's being made in the sandboxes for it to be a coincidence. If they'd looked it up online they would have been tracked and ID'd.

Therefore, my money is on them getting the info from someone via word of mouth.

They had help.

Also, listening to the TV, they seemed to get radicalized about two years ago.

All of that suggests there is more to this than just two brothers.

The brothers have been here for a decade or so it appears. It's also been reported that they drove nice cars so perhaps they didn't need to have outside financial help, diverting some of the college allowance money instead. I'm curious to find out what kind of long guns they had and how they obtained them. MA requires registration of all guns, iirc.

AFA radicalized goes, I'm going to guess that the older one was the one who first started to plan evil. He had expressed some bitterness in that earlier interview about not being accepted and not making any friends. He was also arrested for assault against a girl a few years back. His brother was supposed to be well known and popular, had a current well to do girlfriend, and was very socially outgoing. He probably looked up to his  much older brother and thus felt a strong urge to get involved with whatever his brother was promoting.

None of this is any excuse of course. He made an evil choice and must pay the full consequences.

I get the feeling these Chechens were used because they don't physically match what we would expect from terrorists...they are not Middle Eastern looking. That is, if they have some outside connection...

This is a rather odd article.

In it the bombers indicate they don't have any American friends (although they grew up here). Further the father seems to think his kids are "angels" - when they clearly are not.

Then he goes so far as to make a threat if the kids are harmed.

Clearly there is a disconnect between what what he's saying. I'm going to take a wild guess that the dad might be involved in this, too.

^Did you hear the quotes from the uncle who lives in Maryland?  According to him the older son is a 'loser' and 'he got what he deserved' but the younger son is an angel. 

Just checked my local news website and can't seem to find the text of the conversation they had with the uncle.

Yeah, I heard a comment from a news anchor about that. He wondered aloud as to how many of the good folk there might be wishing they had a firearm to protect themselves with a madman on the loose.

All I can say is that if a bad guy tried to break in under those circumstances here they'd be met with the business end of gunpowder and lead.
